Trash to Treasure: A new use for an old treasure!

Welcome to Trash to Treasure on Tuesday. If you have something that is a treasure to you that someone else didn't want, add your name and the link to your post to Mr. Linky at the bottom. I look forward to visiting you!

Do any of you remember this Southern Living at Home basket that I bought for $4.00? I used it for most of the fall for an arrangement on my kitchen counter. You can look at that here if you want to. The basket is no longer available, but retailed for about $40.00.
I didn't go to yard sales this week since it was so cold, so for this post I 'shopped' my garage sale stash from past weeks and found this birdhouse and 2 little clay pots..........

And using my plants from the screened porch and two clay pots I already had, I put my Southern Living treasure to another use as a plant holder next to the garden tub. Now I feel like I'm really in a garden while taking a bath. This room is pretty cool, and has a large window, so the plants will get plenty of light in there.
Total spent was $5.00 and it dresses up the area around the tub. Now if I can just keep these plants alive through the winter! LOL Any hints on growing houseplants inside would be appreciated!

Thanks for stopping by and looking at this week's Trash to Treasure!

Oh my goodness, that Southern Living At Home stuff is usually so expensive. I love it, but a bit high for my budget. I cannot believe you got that for $4.00. It sure looks great now.

Hi Diane, What a great idea. I love the idea of "re-purposing" things around the house to used in different ways. It's fun to have something "new" to enjoy, isn't it!

Hi Diane, Your treasure has been put to good use. It looks great with the plants. I know the original cost on that was just what you said. I have one too and it holds a fake fruit arrangement. I need to do something else with it. Your little birdhouse is the perfect accent with the plants.

I keep plants in the house for the winter and all I do is place them where there is natural light and water them. They really do well.

Hugs...Jeanne

Very pretty arrangement, Diane!

I have plants that I've kept alive for over 35 years --lol--the key is not to overwater, and give them a window with soem hours of sunlight.

Diane...just love the basket and what a steal you got for only $4! I love it beside your bath. Way to put it to mulitple uses! Wish I could give advice on indoor plants but I never have much luck with them. I didn't notice if Tootsie (Glenda) from Tootsie Time had been by to comment but she would be a great one to ask.
