Christmas Cards and Being Stressed!

Do any of you send Christmas Cards? Some years I do, and some years I don't, but I have to admit I love to get them. I have my cards ready to address, and hope to get it done this week and get them in the mail.

The ones that I get this year will be displayed on my new Southern Living at Home door hanger. I've been using it for photos, but have it ready for the Christmas cards. The little long legged Santas are from Dept. 56 and used to be on the tree. The ornament in the center of the wreath is a Santa made from a crushed coke can, and was given to me by a former student.
Speaking of Christmas cards, I received the nicest surprise yesterday - a beautiful Christmas card from Jan and her husband Tom at Jan and Tom's Place! Thanks Jan...it was such a lovely surprise. Inside was tucked this little tag with this verse: Be not forgetful to entertain strangers: for thereby some have entertained angels unawares. ~Heb. 13:2.

That is some food for thought isn't it?

Sometimes I get too caught up in the 'business' of the season, and feel a little stressed with everything there is to do. I found a blog post that really spoke to me on this. I hope she won't mind if I post her link to share with all of you. I have gone back a time or two to reread this-it's worth your time.

Thanks for stopping by!

I want to get the bulk of my cards done this weekend. I always send cards. I just hang mine in the door frame. :) I don't have anything as fancy as you have. I love the way it looks on your door. I'm sure it will be just beautiful with all the cards in it.

take care,
Dawn

I went to Gina's first and left her a comment. What a timely reminder. Thanks, Diane for pointing to it.

I still send cards; in fact, I just mailed them off this week. The outside is done--it's not much these years. Now, to finish up the inside decorations.

I haven't started cards, yet. It seems we get fewer and fewer each year. Many years ago I sent out lots of cards and now it's somewhere between 40 and 50, most years. I have no excuse for not getting them done. I hadn't addressed a single card, 3 years ago, when J had an appendectomy, a couple of weeks before Christmas. I still managed to get my cards sent. So far so good on emergencies this year, but still no cards addressed!

I try to take time to relax, during the hustle and bustle. Yesterday we sat in the hearth room in between doing this and that. Those little moments are priceless.

Hello Diane, I too rec'd a card from Jan & Tom. Drat, she is so organized. I am still knee deep in decorations.

I do love your Christmas card holder. I will post mine on Trash to Treasure on Tues. I bought it for 4.00 at the thrift store this week. Your is lovely and mine is quite nice too. I think you will agree it is a treasure.

I always send cards but never early. Usually not late. Lol. I need to get more organized.

Darlene was lucky. Think about how many pinkies were her competition.

Have a wonderful Sunday and thanks for your sweet comment.

Christmas hugs...Jeanne

I love receiving cards too Diane, and I know what you mean about getting stressed at this time of year. I did get my cards in the mail Friday--a good feeling and I've already received a few from friends.

Love your card holder, enjoy it this Christmas season!

Diane, I always mail Christmas cards out. This year I did a card swap and it has been such a pleasure getting these additional cards that are so thoughtful and sweet.

Your christmas card holder looks perfect, just adorable!

I used to be so diligent about sending out our Christmas cards, being so careful to pick just the right ones...and always included a recent picture. Since my two kids have grown and moved away from home, the cards have gone by the wayside. Maybe I'll try and send some out this year too though!

Thanks for linking me, and no I don't mind one bit! I'm so glad that you and others have been encouraged by what God has been talking to me about.

I've continually been reminded to keep the focus where it should be and that has resulted in me leaving some things "undone" this season that I wouldn't normally. And it's okay, actually it's been kind of nice!

Thanks again Diane!

Hi Diane

I do send out cards every year and try to write a little note in each. It takes time, but I always feel it is a nice way to keep in touch with the friends and family thta are far away. This year I am hoping to use a photo of our first grand child -- now if he'd only pick his birthday! LOL! I'm so impatient.

That was a lovely blog post you linked to --so true we need to reflect on the special meaning of Christmas!

Hugs, Pat
