Trash to Treasure: Look what 50 Cents bought!
Welcome to Trash to Treasure on Tuesday! I have always had a weakness for lamps, and couldn't pass up this one I found for only 50 cents this past weekend at a yard sale! It didn't have a lamp shade-so I guess that's why it was so cheap! It is iron with a turquoise and glazed finish.
Here's an up close picture that shows the details of the base.
And here it is with the lamp shade that I added. Later I may try to do something more fancy with the lampshade but for now this will do. The lamp will fit in beautifully with my screened porch furnishings, but for now I'm using it in my laundry room.
I love finding a treasure that doesn't need anything much done to it. The lamp would look great painted, but in my case the turquoise is a great color!

50 cents!!! Oh my gosh. I love the verdigris patina on the base and would totally leave it as-is, too. GREAT get!
ReplyDeleteWhat a fabulous buy that was Diane!! You really turned it into a treasure :0)
ReplyDeleteI'm joining in this week.
Happy soon to be Tuesday to you...
What an elegant lamp, Diane ... I can't believe it was just 50 cents!
ReplyDeleteYou just never know what you might find at yard sales. There is so much truth to the saying that "one man's trash is another man's treasure," and that's proven daily in "blogland," isn't it!
I'm looking forward to participating tomorrow.
Sincerely,
Janie
OH my goodness..that is just great!

Hi Diane...well, I have found some bargains in my day, but nothing to compare to that! You must have been the first shopper there or surely someone else would have grabbed it...I would have! I signed up for tomorrow to show some of treasured "junque".
ReplyDelete;-) Bo
Like you Diane, I can't pass up a nice lamp either! Yours for 50 cents is a real "buy"...and looks beautiful.

Oh Diane! I can't believe that lamp was only 50 cents! It's great! I love the rustic metal and the shape of it.
ReplyDeleteI wish I could shop at the same yard sales you go to!
Hugs, Pat
Hi Diane
ReplyDeleteWhat a great deal! I don't think you have to do anything to that lamp either. The shade's great too. Thats just the colour effect everyone is trying to achieve by antiquing and your lamp has it already. It looks great. I love a good deal...
Have a nice evening.

50 cents!!!??! They had no idea what was getting away from them!

ReplyDeleteFifty cents makes that an amazing find!!!!!! I don't know about you but I can never have enough lamps!! I don't like it dark. I'm sure whatever you do to the lampshade will just "brighten" it up! (Pun intended LOL!)
