Trash to Treasure: A New Look for a Nativity
Welcome to Trash to Treasure! Please link you new to you treasures for us all to see using Mr. Linky at the bottom of this post. For this week's treasure, I would like to show you one of the ways I displayed a Nativity. This tarnished silver plate platter came from an estate sale. At the end of the sale, the platter had not sold so my son who was helping with the sale brought it home. I used moss that came from a huge box of craft supplies I got for 25 cents this past summer.
My daughter decided a few years ago she wanted to start collecting Fontanini Nativity pieces. I started by giving her the Holy family. Later I bought her the stable, and it came with a Holy family-so I kept this one for myself. This is one of 5 Nativities I have scattered through the house, and for now it is my favorite. It is on a little lamp table close to the door and is one of the first things I notice when I walk in the room.
There is something about the simplicity of it that I really like! For more Christmas posts, visit Kimba at a Soft Place to Land! Thanks for stopping by, and don't forget to link to Mr. Linky!

ReplyDeleteDiane, what a good idea! I have a thrift store silver plate tray I displayed a turkey on this past 'Harvest' and trying to figure out what to do with. I just unboxed a nativity set and wondering what to do with both of them. I am going to use your idea. Thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteI love silver, it has so many uses...
ReplyDeleteAnd to hold the most treasured of all displays...is a duty most befitting!
Good morning Diane, What a sweet little Nativity...and I like the way you have it displayed, ;-) Bo

ReplyDeleteDiane, we are in tune today! I collect nativities, and today is my first trash to treasure day. I don't have a Fontanini, though; they are the tops!
ReplyDeleteI love your nativity, Diane!
ReplyDeleteHi, Diane
ReplyDeleteI love the nativity. I never would've thought to use the platter that way. I just love all the inspiration found here.. Thanks for hosting trash to treasure. You've got me thinking. Have a great day!
Diane, the Holy Family is the best thing that has ever been displayed on that platter! It's lovely! what a great idea. The platter is, too, and I think that's a great way to have spent 25 cents!
ReplyDeleteSorry I'm late today, Diane.
XO,
Sheila

I have looked at Fontanini for years and thought of starting a collection. Yours is beautiful.
ReplyDeleteWe have several nativity scenes through the house, too. When our house was on the tour, one of the visitors thanked us for having the nativities. She said ours was the only home, on the tour, where she saw them.
Diane, I figured out how to do a proper link. Will you delete my first MR. Linky please? Thanks. BTW, look at my Christmas Decorating first. I copied your Nativity display. Best form of flattery! :D
ReplyDeleteSo simple...yet so beautiful. It was nice of you to help her start a collection...and you got a BONUS for yourself!
ReplyDeleteThis is a very pretty nativity set! It's nice to keep a collection of them as the true message of Christmas is so beautiful! I was heart broken when I read about the set you lost when you flew home from Italy a few posts ago. Hugs, Pat
