Family Foto Friday:

Deborah of Pictures Pots and Pens is hosting family photos on Friday.

This is a picture of my sister, my Aunt Gloria, and myself made probably in the late 50's or early 60's. Aunt Gloria had been to the Bahamas and brought us back the little hats we are modeling.

This picture was made at the first house I remember living in.

I have wonderful memories of living in this house. We had wonderful neighbors that had 2 daughters that I used to play with.

This past week, the lady that lived next door to us died, and at the funeral I got to visit for a short time with 2 of my childhood friends. I wish we had had more time to visit and share our memories!

Thanks for stopping by today!

  1. Pictures from that era are so warm and wonderful. I love living rooms from that time; people had those big radio/phonographs, and it seemed EVERYONE had a lamp on top of the tv. I still have the ones my Mama had atop ours! Have a great weekend.

  6. Looking into the room is a step back in time!!! All very modern items back then, but to us, its RETRO!

  7. Isn't it strange to see the lamp on top of the TV? If I remember correctly, that was the advice at the time: to keep a light on so that the TV wouldn't ruin our eyesight! lol

  20. Diane,

How KIND of you to share such a cute picture of me! hahaha

You and Robin were always so cute....it was a pleasure to bring you things. Wonder what I gave Mark?? You didn't mention the purses...isn't that mine in the background?

Give my sister kisses and hugs for her birthday Monday. I hear you will be in NYC again. I would like to go one more time with my girls. Have fun!

  23. Your picture SO reminded me of my parents house. After they passed away, my daughter Katie and her husband bought the house a couple of years ago. And their still is a couple in their 90's across the street that use to play cards with my parents! Now they play with my granddaughter, that circle of life!
    Take care, Sue

  24. Hi Diane! It's so much fun to look at pictures from our childhood years! I'll bet there are a lot of modern gals wishing they could have some of the '50/'60's decor items! Feels like I'm back in our ranch house waiting for I Love Lucy to come on!lol Fun photo - such innocent, happy times! Have a great weekend - Sincerely, Jeannette

  25. That was our TV...and that was our lamp...and would you believe - that was our bull sitting on the TV!

What memories this photo brings back to me...I can nearly see our living room back then.

You two look so cute in those hats and purses.

Thank you so much for sharing!

  27. That's a sweet picture! You girls look adorable.

I have never heard anyone say that a picture was made before. Is that a regional expression? Up north we say taken istead of made. I'm just curious!

    take care,
    Dawn

  28. Hi Diane...I was going to mention those "rabbit ears" but I see somebody beat me to it...now just look what we have to pay to get TV into our homes today & most of the stuff is garbage! I love seeing how well you girls were dressed...something we don't see much anymore...proper young ladies without their navels showing, huh?
OK, I'm showing my age here now...
LOL...and again, I thank you for your GREAT recipes I posted!
Have a beautiful weekend, ;-) Bo

  30. Diane,

I love the photo as does everyone else it seems~it must be the era we all grew up in! I don't have any old pictures like this, so it was nice to hear about your memories of your home and your neighbors.
