Outdoor Wednesday: Some Favorite Spring Blossoms

Technorati Tags: ,

Susan at A Southern Daydreamer is hosting Outdoor Wednesday. Please visit her for lots of outdoor inspiration. Thanks so much Susan for being our hostess.

Spring is one of my favorite times of the year. In the south we have lots of plants and trees that bloom only in the spring. I look forward to the show these plants put on each year. This is one of my favorites-a dogwood.

This one is a Lady Banks Rose. When we sold our other home several years ago, I had just planted this. Since we sold to a commercial developer, I dug up this plant and brought it with me. With all I had to do to unpack and organize, I didn’t put lots of thought into where the Lady Banks was planted. I planted it by the driveway, and every year I consider moving it, but don’t want to lose it!

Thanks for dropping by today. Please leave me a comment and tell me your favorite spring flower!

  2. Your dogwood is lovely; we don't see a lot of them here. One of my favs for spring is narcissus; showy and heavily perfumed.

  5. Diane,

I'm not too familiar with rose bushes because I can't grow them with all the shade I have, but your Lady Banks looks perfect by your driveway.

I have a Red Twig Dogwood in my backyard that will be blooming next month. I love to bring a few branches in to put in a vase. The fragrance is wonderful and the white flowers just gorgeous!!

I would have to say that tulips and daffodils are my favorites. It is too cold to be outside any earlier for anything else!!

  20. Love your blooms. I'm so glad you posted your lady banks rose. I posted a small picture of mine today, but we will have to cut it down and move it soon because it is climbing on the house. I thought we would have to have a trellis, but *love* how yours is sprawled on the ground. Yay!

    My favorite is probably forsythia.

  30. I love your Lady Banks rose, Diane. It is such a graceful and elegant looking plant.

I have so many "favorite" flowers it would be hard to come up with just one, but dogwood and narcissus would be top contenders.

Hope you have a good Thursday. We're supposed to get some thunderstorms today which will probably be coming your way, too.

    Take care ...

  31. I think you took the spring weather back with you from NYC because it's been cold here ever since. ;-) Hopefully we'll get some pretty blooms at the shore house SOON! 'Til then, I'll enjoy yours.
