2nd Time Around: Oak Secretary

Welcome to 2nd Time Around. If you love antiques, garage sales, thrift stores, flea markets, etc. you are in the right place. Just create a post and link to Mr. Linky below. I look forward to visiting you.

For the past 3 weeks, I’ve shown some of my furniture that I purchased from the Green Door Antiques in Philadelphia, Ms. This secretary is one of the last pieces I bought, and one of the pieces I spent the most on. I didn’t buy it the day that I saw it, but got home and thought about it and you see that I went back to get it. Since it cost a little more that I usually paid the nice owner let me put it on lay-a-way for 6 months instead of the usual 3. But I still brought it home with me that day!

Several months after I bought it, the housekeeper that we had while I was working backed into it and broke out the bow front glass. The owners of the Green Door ordered us a new piece of glass, and installed it for us charging only for the glass! They have now closed their store-I hope I won’t have anymore broken glass!

Thanks for stopping by!

Diane

That secretary is beautiful! What a great place that you bought it from. We let customers take a piece home and still put it on layaway. Can't do that at Wal-Mart!

To think, the glass survived a long time and through several relocations before being broken during a routine cleaning. I'm glad you were able to get it replaced.

Dear Diane, thank you so much for your many kind words about Beth. We are so sad still but at peace, knowing she won't suffer any more.

Your secretary is beautiful and I can't imagine how you must have felt when the bow front glass was broken. Thank heaven it could be replaced. How sad the dealers went out of business. It is happening to lots of dealers these days. My sisters have been in the antique business for nearly 25 years and things are tough for them too. One thing that has helped them is getting into the internet E-Bay business.

Your grandsons are adorable in your header. They are the most handsome little guys. I love the Connor soccer story. Bribery is GOOD! LOL. Congrats on his 2nd trophy in soccer.

Hugs and love...Jeanne
