2nd Time Around: Vintage Chickens and Roosters

Jackson 005

Welcome to 2nd Time Around. Please join us by linking a post that features something that is a 2nd Time Around to you…something from a garage sale, flea market, thrift store, estate sale, etc. Please link your post rather than your blog, and link back to this blog. Thank you for participating.

Since I last posted about my antique mall booth, and my Etsy shop, I’ve started another adventure. After being on the list for about 4 months, my friends and I finally got a booth at a really large antique mall/flea market. So…..you know what that means-I’ve had to do lots of shopping. Seems like I’ve found lots of cute chickens lately, and I’m going to feature them in this post.

Roosters and chickens don’t really fit into my decor, but I love the look! So here goes:

I found this one at an antique mall in Collins Ms. During the holidays, one of my friends and I visited a really large one owned by Delta Burke and her husband. This chicken didn’t come from there, but a small shop nearby. She is an adorable string dispenser!

This hook is one I did have in my Etsy shop, and it sold!

I’ve been finding some great needlework in my excursions. These coordinating cross stitch pictures were in ugly gold frames, and I painted the frames black to update the look.

And my latest purchase-just made today- is a hen with salt and pepper eggs on each side. The top is a condiment holder with a little spoon. Not sure where she will end up-but it will be one of three places!

Hope you enjoyed my vintage chickens and roosters. I also found a pewter rooster timer, but didn’t get the photos ready for this post.

Hopefully in the next week or two, I’ll have some pics ready to share for the new booth!

I love Delta Burke's and Gerald McRaney's shop in Collins, and hope to get back down that way when the weather warms up some.

  14. Good morning Diane. I am so happy to say hello this am. I love your hens you have found. This is a theme that is ever popular. I have lots of them from collecting over the years. Most of them are in the cabin now.

Thank you for your visit and comment yesterday. This quilt thing is my way of making sure I finish them. I can't let my blogging friends down. HA!

I hope your shop is doing well. I know you are having fun with the hunt.

    Have a great day.
    Hugs, Jeanne
