2nd Time Around: Milk Glass

Jackson 005

Welcome to 2nd Time Around. Please join us by linking a post that features something that is a 2nd Time Around to you…something from a garage sale, flea market, thrift store, estate sale, etc. Please link your post rather than your blog, and link back to this blog. Thank you for participating.

One of the things I’m finding while hunting for stuff for my booth is lots of milk glass. Most of it is priced very reasonably, and lots of people like to collect it. Like everything else I’m buying these days, I love it, just don’t have the space for it in my home!

Here are some milk glass pieces that I’ve bought recently:

Love this 2 piece hen dish!

This vase has been one of my most viewed items on Etsy. I don’t know why….it just is!

Love this big urn like vase! I think it would be perfect in a craft room or studio to use for storing supplies!

This little bowl is pretty popular too…I have bought two of these…one for my booth, and one for ETSY.

What about you? Do you like milk glass? Tell me about a favorite piece of yours!

Hi Diane,
I also have a few milk glass pieces that I pick up at auctions. And you are so right...can't keep everything. Thanks for hosting!

Milk glass is really affordable. I, also am seeing it everywhere! I love to use it as a spring vase, especially for daffodils.

I have some milk glass that was my mother's and I've bought a few pieces along the way too. One of the pieces I bought was the chicken you have because I have a turkey from my mom and he needed company. I know my mom had at one time the candy dish you have, but either it broke or my sister has it now. I like milk glass and recently picked up a piece for $10 that was a companion piece to one from my mom.

Thanks for hosting Second Time Around Tuesday!

Diane,
Great collection. I have a few pieces, but my daughter has quiet a large collection. I try to find pieces and add to her collection anytime I can. I can't say I have a fav piece. I think it all is beautiful. Thanks for taking the time to host this event every week.
I really look forward to seeing everyone's treasures each week.

Diane- I am seeing lots of milk glass too. I love the hobnail kind especially. My mother kept the butter out on the counter in a little white hen like that...we always had soft butter for toast and it never killled anybody :)

Oh I would have loved to play...but I just posted! oh no :(
So glad that I can still read the posts from all the players though.

Since I have come back from my TOD, I just feel like I have missed the game boat, altogether!...Delighted to be in blogland though!!

Your milk glass is so bright and cheery...I can certainly see what they are viewed often!

I am finding myself finding and using more milk glass pieces than ever before. They are so easy to work into almost any kind of decorating style.

I love milk glass and I have quite a few pieces. I have a set of four luncheon plates with matching cups and they are so cute. I also have a cake plate I love. Reasonable prices on most of it.

Thanks for hosting!

And to think, as a kid, I thought milk glasses were the glasses you drank milk out of.

I had that same candy dish (the last photo) that you have the pears in, with the lid. It was my grandma's and always full of ribbon candy. Thanks for the memory!

I don't think I currently own any milk glass, at least I don't have any displayed. There could be some buried in the basement. I have been seeing it a lot at thrift stores and I'm definitely drawn to it. Just waiting till I find the perfect piece!
love yours! thanks for hosting!

Hi Diane, your mild glass purchases are very nice. It is true that many people collect milk glass and have for many years. The prices are not out of sight and a great collection to start. I like the 2nd photo with the grapes pattern and pedestal. Good luck with your sales Diane.

Hugs, Jeanne

Your pieces are beautiful Diane! I'm tempted by milkglass, but I am trying to limit what I buy these days as to just a few collectibles, such as the Irish Belleek I like so much :-)

love that milk glass.

I saw this last week: http://www.linesfromlinderhof.com/2010/01/curried-chicken-salad.html

I'm showing hubby's childhood toy being used as a valentine's display.

This is my first time linking. Thanks for hosting the party. I love milk glass, but only have a few pieces. I'm really into vintage dishes right now, especially ones with a really retro design.
