I did a post a few weeks ago about pottery from Italy. Recently I saw this little chicken dish, and in my haste to buy it, I forgot to check it out for knicks, chips, etc.
When I got home, I realized I had made a mistake! Part of her tail had been broken off!
So, what do you do with a piece that is chipped and would not be good to put in the booth? Use it yourself! I decided to place the hen on my kitchen counter and hide the chipped end…don’t know what I’ll store in it, but I’ll think of something.
Have you bought something and found out it had a flaw when you got home? I try to check things out, but sometimes I miss things! Please tell me I’m not the only one!
I would put it in the booth with an "as is" sign on it. That way someone would realize it has a little something wrong with it and then be able to make the decision for themselves. OR... keep it for myself! ;o) It's darling!

Oops forgot to say that I love all the cookware Don't know which would be the best but after 30 years of marriage some new pots and pans would be wonderful!!
ReplyDeleteYes!!! I have been so excited to find something, think I check it out, get it home...and what??? A huge chip for crack...sometimes we stumble. It is still cute!
ReplyDeleteI too sometimes bought some things that has a chip on it but since I only used it at home it doesn't matter to me specially if it is really good looking. This hen is pretty!

I think the rooster is really cute, and if you hadn't said anything, I never would have noticed. So keep it in your own kitchen if you love it. Or put it in your booth with an "as is" marked on the tag, like someone suggested. Someone is going to love it even if it has a chipped tail.

ReplyDeleteI do love the Rooster Dish, mistake or not! I do the same, for I fall in love with something,I hasten to get it and get home and Well it one thing that want get cracked or broken for it tail is chipped, but loved!

ReplyDeleteHello Diane, I am sorry I have been MIA lately. Life has been very busy for me. First a bloggy break and then a trip to Florida. I am in Florida now with my daughter and grands. We had a blogging party with some blogging friends. Fun in the sun!
ReplyDeleteI know how to fix that little tail but I am not sure I can explain it here. I use wood putty and shape it with small paint brushes. Then use fine sandpaper to sand it SMOOTH. Then I try to match it with craft paint. Finally I spray it with a clear finish. It is pretty involved but not hard to do really. It won't hurt to try.

It's a really cute rooster even with the chip missing. I have done this many times. So many times that I sometimes go get my husband as a second set of eyes before I make a mistake.

oh you aren't the only one, I have bought things that are chipped or cracked. I have even bought some on purpose knowing it was damaged. I'd put it in the shop and do as GardenofDaisies said, mark it "as is" you'd be surprised how many people would want it for personal use and wouldn't mind the chip or break. I love it, I know I'd buy it and use it.
