2nd Time Around: A Different Bird Feeder

Jackson 005

Welcome to 2nd Time Around. Please join us by linking a post that features something that is a 2nd Time Around to you…something from a garage sale, flea market, thrift store, estate sale, etc. Please link your post rather than your blog, and link back to this blog. Thank you for participating.

Last week I mentioned that I would be traveling to Mentone, Al. and would probably visit the White Elephant antique store. Well, we never made it to the antique store. We did go to Mentone, and from there we ended up driving a few miles to a Collinsville, Al, a small community south of Mentone. Each Saturday they host an event called Trade Day. It is like a giant outdoor flea market. The brochure said that the event drew crowds of about 30,000 each week!

I did buy some jewelry for my flea market booth, and also found these bird feeders made of giant timber bamboo! I fell in love with them at first sight! The man that made them was selling them at great prices, and the more you bought the cheaper the price.  He told us that people in the Philippines build homes out of this type of bamboo.

So, after buying several, I gave one to the hostess who invited us, am giving one to my daughter for her birthday, and will probably sell the others in my flea market booth.

This one was the one that I gave our hostess. Her home is right on the brow of the east side of Lookout mountain, and I think you can see what a fantastic view there is from her home!

So, tell me what your wonderful finds have been this week!

What a neat little bird feeder, Diane ... and so unique!

The flea market sounds like fun. I used to go to the Canton, Texas flea market when we lived in Shreveport, but it's too far to go now that we live in Vicksburg. I'd love to check out the one in Collinsville, but it's probably too far away, too.

I know Kelli is going to love her bird feeder!

Good morning Diane. What a great birdhouse/feeder find. I would have bought them too. I bet you had a great time with your friends and going to the big trading show. My daughter was at the Lookout Mountain area taking her boys to boy scout camp on Saturday. She and Bill took them and when she returned we made jam. You could say it was a jam packed day. HA!. She would have loved the trade show too. She is my only daughter interested in vintage and crafty items. I would have loved it as well. I bet the birdhouses sell fast. How are your booths doing? Is jewelry a big seller?

Have a wonderful day.
Love ya, Jeanne

Hi Diane,
What a wonderful bird feeder, and what an amazing view -- just spectacular! I followed Linda of A La Carte here from a comment she left for me. Love your party; hope my post is an appropriate one to link. I'm big on "recycling," so I love your 2nd time around theme!
