A Pink Dolphin???

Beverly of How Sweet the Sound is hosting pink Saturday. Please visit her for a list of other blogs posting pink pics today!

While searching Google for something pink to post, I ran across this unusual picture of a pink dolphin. I've not seen anything like this before, and found it to be very interesting. I thought I would share it with you for pink Saturday.

Click here, to read more about the pink dolphin, which happens to be in danger of extinction.
Here is more information from the website where I found the picture:

These photographs of a beautiful pink dolphin are circulating via email and online. Although some have suggested that the little dolphin has been made to look pink via image manipulation software, the photographs are in fact genuine. The pictures were snapped on Calcasieu Lake by Capt. Erik Rue during a charter fishing trip. An article about the pink dolphin on the Beaumont Enterprise website notes:

When Rue first got a fleeting glimpse of a paler, pinkish bottlenose dolphin diving near Calcasieu Lake, he waited for it to resurface just be sure.

"It was really exciting," Rue, a captain with Calcasieu Charter Service, said by phone. He hung around for about an hour snapping photos of the fair-skinned, red-eyed albino dolphin swimming with a pod June 24th.

There were several other sightings of the albino dolphin in the region, including some near the Cameron ferry as stated in the email message.

During the past 15 years, there have been three other confirmed sightings of albino dolphins along the US Gulf Coast. A white dolphin, dubbed "Misty", was also spotted off the South Australian coast in 1996.

Pink dolphins are known to inhabit waterways in the Amazon. And the journeys of Migaloo, a famous white humpback whale, always generate a great deal of interest.

I've always loved dolphins and think this dolphin is such a beautiful creature.

Thanks for the visit, and have a great pink Saturday!
Diane

It was very interesting to read about the pink dolphin --it's so unusual!

We saw the Benjamin Button movie and really liked it a lot -- it was so touching that both my husband and I were crying at the end! Thanks for the recommendation!
