2nd Time Around: Auction Teapots

Welcome to 2nd Time Around! If you love shopping at antiques stores, flea markets, garage sales, estate sales and thrift stores this is for you! Just create a post featuring something that is ‘new’ to you and link with Mr. Linky below.

Do you like auctions? To be honest, I really don’t. For one thing, they last too long. And there is something about competitive bidding that I just don’t enjoy! Maybe if I went more often I would become an old pro. But usually I have so many other things to do on the weekends, and don’t have time.

These teapots are my one and only auction purchase. They were offered together and no one else was that interested, so I got them both for not too much! The first one was the reason I bothered to bid in the first place. I love china with little violet flowers!

This is a close up of the details…….

This one was included in the grouping along with a mismatched sugar bowl. I have it in my secretary, but may use it this season for some fresh flowers.

Thanks for stopping by! I hope you will join us for 2nd Time Around. I look forward to seeing your ‘new to you’ treasures!

The teapots are both very pretty, Diane. I love the colors! I enjoy auctions but only if dh comes with me. I am too shy to bid by myself....Christine

These are gorgeous, Diane.

We used to go to quite a few auctions, but haven't in a long while. I think getting caught up in the bidding always makes me spend more than I intend.

A distant relative of J's (her grandfather was brother to J's great grandfather), passed away recently. The two brothers, her grandfather and J's great grandfather, came from Germany in the 19th century and purchased farms in Missouri and became well known farming families in our part of MO. "D" bequeathed the farm to the city for a park. There will be an auction of her household goods. She was the last surviving member of that branch of the family. All lived on that farm. I don't even want to go to that auction! It's at the end of this month.
The most difficult auction I went to, was the sale of my grandparents household, when my grandfather passed away. My grandmother was in a nursing home, by then (Alzhiemer's).

Your teapots are so pretty, Diane. The one with violets is my favorite.

I love to go to auctions, but usually end up bidding against myself, which is really embarrassing ... lol

Hi Diane,
First time to your blog, it is lovely, just love those teapots. I have just linked to your site for my first 2nd Time Around Tuesday. One problem, I hit enter before I was done editing to add your link. I can't seem to get back into edit my post, but I do have the sidebar button with link. Sorry, just learning.

Thanks for hosting and sharing

Good morning Diane, I feel the same as you about auctions. My sister drags me along when she can but it takes too long and the bidding is not fun. She is an antique dealer and loves everything about it.

Your purchase is lovely and I love tea pots in general. The violets are so sweet and the flowers on the other one is pretty too. I know you enjoy them.

Hugs...Jeanne

Teapots attract me like moth to a flame. I go to them instantly, and have a small collection on a shelf. Such quaint little pieces.

I agreee with you...every once in a while (though not as much recently)...you stumble on a bargain, but mostly it's dealers or hard core collectors who bid, bid, bid (outbidding me. :-) Your teapot is certainly a lovely find.

I've only been to art auctions and only as an observer Dinae. The bids are always so high!

Hi Diane, thinking of you today. If you find time come over and see the Biltmore tulips. They are so beautiful. I had fun taking them. I hope you are not working too hard.

Diane, Love the teapots! My favorite is the first one too! I have a small porcelain tea cup that I think matches it, I purchased it in Austria when I traveled there numerous years ago. It's a demitasse cup. Happy Wednesday~ :) I'm featuring some teacups today in my post for Tablescape Thursday with a lovely hostess assistant, my Pet Sheltie, Princess Mignon Abbie. ;) Drop on over for a spot of tea! ~CC Catherine from "Catherine de th`e Cups"
