Pink Gardening Inspiration

It is the time of year when so many of us love to garden. Here are some photos with a little ‘pink’ to get you inspired.

I used to think flamingos were a little ‘trashy’ in the garden…but not anymore!

I love these peonies in the painting by Monet. I’m not sure they grow in our area…I haven’t noticed them in the nurseries around here.

A good read: The Angels of Lockhart

I recently finished the most intriguing book! The book,The Angels of Lockhart, was written by Thomas Wiley, a physician from Jackson, Ms.


The book is a work of fiction but is based on fact. I don't want to give away too much information, but one of the main characters in the book, Ms Lizzy, is the step great grandmother to Thomas Wiley's wife. The book takes place in Lockhart, which is not too far from where I live. Ms. Lizzy had 7 children and all of them died in infancy or early childhood. What is even more intriguing is that each child died before the other was born! That part of the story is really true. After reading this book, my husband and I decided to stop by the Lockhart Cemetery where the babies are all buried. This picture below is the entrance to the cemetery.

Here is the Lockhart Church right in front of the cemetery. The church doors were padlocked, but we were able to peek through a crack in the door.
This picture shows some of the graves of the babies in the family plot. Someone has been placing little bouquets of white flowers at the foot of each grave. They are all lined up just like the author described in the book. Ms. Lizzy and her husband are not buried in this cemetery with their babies, but buried in Meridian which is close by.
I won't tell you how the book ended or give out any more information...just in case you ever have a chance to read this book. It was well written and an easy read. One of the reasons it was so intriguing to me is because it is based on fact and took place here in my home county.
