Audubon Zoo New Orleans July 2014
This one was made in New Orleans the first week of July at the Audubon Zoo. My grandsons went with me to visit my son, and had a wonderful time at the Cool Zoo! I have a picture of Connor (the one on the bottom) made several years ago in the same tree.
Cooper (top picture) had a great time at the zoo! He didn't remember coming to the zoo before. I think he must have been around 2 years old.
If you are ever in the area, the zoo in New Orleans is great! Well worth the time.

Connor and the Doughboy Monument
Thank you Veterans for all you have done for our country! Without your sacrifices, we would not have the freedoms that we have today!
In my hometown, there will be a memorial service in front of our Doughboy monument and a parade downtown.
Connor has always been fascinated with the monument, and often we will stop when driving by so he can examine it up close. I let him take this picture one day…it is one of my favorites!
Here is his in front of the monument. He is growing up but still loves to stop by the monument, and I have the opportunity to explain to him about those that have fought for the freedoms we so often take for granted.
I’m linking this to Susan at A Southern Daydreamer for outdoor Wednesday. Thanks for stopping by.

Connor Catches a Fish!
Susan form a Southern Daydreamer is hosting Outdoor Wednesday. Please drop by her blog and see what others are up to in the outside world! Thank you Susan for being our hostess.
This week I would like to share two photos that were made Tuesday of this week. Connor stays with us quite often during the summer, and he likes to fish a little in the lake by our house. Usually he gets tired of it pretty quickly, and moves on to something else. But today his efforts finally paid off! He caught his first fish….and it was a pretty big one!
He was very excited, and we just wanted to share his news with our blogging friends.
Thanks for stopping by!

Cooper taking care of Connor
Deborah of Pictures Pots and Pens is hosting Family Foto on Friday. Please visit her to see all the bloggers that have family photos to share.
I love series of photos that tell a story. These four pictures were made the afternoon I went with Connor’s kindergarten class to the zoo. I could tell that Connor did not feel well that day, and when I felt his head, he felt warm. Kelli took his temperature and it was over 101. These pictures show Cooper taking his brother’s temp after he saw his mama do it.
You can see from the last one he finally hit his target!
Thanks for stopping by today!

Pink Saturday
Beverly of How Sweet the Sound is hosting Pink Saturday. Please visit her for lots of pretty pink!
You may have to look closely to see the pink this week! I have two little grandsons, and pink is not usually a color associated with little active boys. But if you look closely you can see some pink…in the eggs at the bottom of the photo, the flower behind the rabbit’s ear, and in Connor and Coopers little pink cheeks!
This picture was made about 2 weeks ago when they both spent the night with us. My husband and I took them to the mall for this picture. Cooper had teared up and didn’t really want to be there, so that is why it looks like he is trying to escape! Later, he really warmed up to the Easter Bunny and tried to ‘pet’ him!
And there will be some pink in their baskets too! Note the pink on the bunnies, some pink eggs and pink grass! I just couldn’t resist. Their dad can just blame Beverly! LOL
I hope everyone has a wonderful Pink Saturday and an even more wonderful Easter Sunday!
Thanks for stopping by!

Connor’s First Egg Hunt
Deborah of Pictures Pots and Pens is hosting Family Fotos. Please drop by and visit her and take a look at who else is participating this week.
This series of pictures was made the first time I took Connor to our church egg hunt. To be honest, Connor doesn’t seem to care much for hunting eggs. But he always seems to enjoy going and being around the other children. He is around 18 months…the same age Cooper is now.
This Saturday I want to take him again, and this time Cooper will go with us too! I hope I can get some good pictures. I’m anxious to see if Cooper is more ‘into’ egg hunting than Connor was!
Thanks for stopping by,
Diane

Blue Monday and Soccer
Sally at Smiling Sally is hosting Blue Monday. Please visit her and the others with Blue Monday posts. You will meet so many nice bloggers while you are enjoying the color blue!
Connor spent the night with us on Friday after going to the play I posted about yesterday. We had to get up early and get to the soccer complex for his last game. He didn’t want to get dressed, so I solved the problem by bribing him-I told him I would give him a dollar to get dressed. It did the trick-he was ready in no time! His mama didn’t think it was too funny, but as a grandmother you do what you have to do. We even arrived at the game before his mom and dad!
This was Connor’s last soccer game of the season. Here he is in his blue uniform holding his 2nd soccer trophy.
Now that soccer is over, it is time for T Ball! Connor played for the first time last year, and began to really get into it just as the season ended.
Hope you have a wonderful Monday, and thanks for stopping by!

Magic Tree House the Musical
Friday night I took Connor and my nephew Austin to the MSU Riley Center for Performing Arts to see the Magic Tree House the Musical. It was awesome! Click on the picture for more photos and a schedule of performances. Connor and Austin during the intermission. Please excuse Connor's shirt...we had been to a new pizza place!
You can see just a little bit of the beauty of the theater in the background of this picture.
I often do volunteer work at the Riley Center, usually as an usher or in the box office. Since I had tickets for this production, I volunteered the night before to help set up the dressing room and work with the costumes. I have to say that it gave me a whole new appreciation for the work that goes into these productions!
I am so glad that our small town has a venue that supports the arts for all ages!
Thanks for stopping by today, and hope you have a restful Sunday!

Trip to a Mississippi Museum
Deborah from Pictures Pots and Pens is hosting Family Fotos on Friday. Please visit her to meet lots of friendly bloggers! Thanks Deborah for hosting this. These pictures were made about 3 years ago at the Museum of Natural Science in Jackson, Ms. Connor and I rode over with my friend Beth and her 2 granddaughters. I remember how much fun we had that day! Connor was so active and curious about everything. He was 3 years at the time.
This first picture is of Connor, Emily and Mary Landon. Connor was the youngest, but thought he was just as old as the girls! He was more interested in the mechanics of the fence than he was in viewing the T Rex!
This is a 'hands on' type of museum which is perfect for him. He was so active back then as you can tell from these pictures.
I would love to take him back there soon. Now that he is a little older, I think he would enjoy it even more than he did the first time. And of course now there is Cooper...he will need a trip over there!
I love my old photos and the memories that they bring. Thanks for stopping by!

Cottage Garden
Today is Outdoor Wednesday! Please visit Susan at A Southern Daydreamer for more outdoor posts.
This picture is one of Connor in my cottage garden flower bed in Spring of 2004. I am so ready to get outside and start working in the flowers again! This bed was full of Shasta Daisies, Blue Victoria Salvia, and daylilies.
It is one of my favorite spots and is next to the sidewalk leading to the front porch.
Thanks for stopping by!

Memories of a First Haircut
Deborah at Pictures Pens and Pots is hosting Family Fotos on Friday.
This series of four pictures shows the day Connor got his first haircut. He was 2 years old and it was near Christmas on a Saturday afternoon. He didn't have much hair for so long, but when it finally started growing, it got long quick! The entire time he was in the chair, he cried! We have it on video too...but hardly ever watch it! 20 minutes of wailing is hard to take. Guess we could mute the TV. LOL
You would have thought that we were being so mean to him from the expressions on his face! I love to show him these pictures! Maybe he'll look at my blog today!
And finally when it was all over....we told him how handsome he looked!
I think Cooper will need a haircut at a much younger age. We are kinda dreading his first haircut-we may just have to live with the curls a little longer!
Thanks for stopping by and please visit Deborah for more Family Fotos~

A day with Connor
I made these pictures of Connor one day when he spent the day with me. We went to the pet store and he got to see a ferret for the first time. I don't have much experience with these critters. They were friendly, frisky little things!

A New Home for a Bargain Table!
I bought this little iron table for 10 dollars this past weekend at a yard sale. It has a brownish tan antique finish. I really thought it was cute, and couldn't pass it up. Of course I have nowhere to put it and really didn't need it, so......I took it to my daughter's house! Here it is on her screened porch with Cooper soaking it all in! Kelli loves the table, but is not happy with the decor! Guess we'll have to work on that. Do you recognize the candle holder on the top shelf? That was one of my Hope Village finds that I blogged about awhile back. It ended up at her house too! I can only use so much stuff, but when I see something I really like, I can't resist!
It gives me pleasure to buy for my kids and grandkids! The nice thing about this is that Kelli and I can trade stuff back and forth whenever we want to!
Of course this post wouldn't be complete if I didn't include Connor. Here's a pic of him holding baby brother!
Thanks for dropping by today!

Birthday Wishes for Connor
Today is Connor's 6th birthday. Here is a letter to him from me!
Dear Connor,
I couldn't let today go by without wishing you Happy Birthday on my blog! I am choosing a few photos of you that I don't think I've posted before...you know Mimi has thousands and I love them all!
You have brought so much pleasure into our lives! I can't believe that you are 6 years old today. 6 years ago, I had no idea how much I would love being a grandmother. You have been a wonderful little grandson, and I love every minute I get to spend with you!
I hope you have a very happy day! I love you little angel baby!
Mimi

Please leave him a birthday wish...I know he will love to hear one of us read them to him!
Thanks for stopping by today!
