2nd Time Around: Opinions Needed!

Welcome to 2nd Time Around. Please join us by linking a post that features something that is a 2nd Time Around to you…something from a garage sale, flea market, thrift store, estate sale, etc. Please link your post rather than your blog, and link back to this blog. Thank you for participating.

Sometimes I buy things that end up being more trouble than they are worth. I’m afraid this chair may be one of those things! A fellow vendor was closing her booth, and I got caught up in the ‘get a bargain’ mode and bought this chair really cheap!
I don’t have anything against the Saints, in fact I love them and was thrilled when they won the Super Bowl. But I think this chair needs a make over! So, I’m asking for your help. What color do you think I should paint it? I already have white and black spray paint, and I know those are neutral colors that many people like. So, should I paint it black or white? Or a bright retro color like lime green? Or leave it as it is and sell it CHEAP?
Help me out….I’m having a hard time making a decision! LOL Or maybe I’m just lazy! So, leave me a comment…one word will do. What color would ‘speak’ to you if you had  this chair?

Out of the Black Box Party

I love reading Joy's blog at Joys of Home. She takes stuff from thrift shops or garage sales and creates the most wonderful treasures out of someone's trash. She uses lots of black spray paint in her transformations...and you can blame her or thank her for many of my black spray paint projects I've posted recently. She has inpired me to see the potential is stuff!
She is hosting a blogging event today. The idea is to post something we've spray painted but not black! I have lots of projects I wanted to do, but it has rained all weekend, so spray painting outside hasn't been possible.
So,
I'm going to show you some pics of the wicker on my screened porch. I have sprayed a total of 6 pieces. The color is Willow by American Accents. The wicker was all different...some from flea markets, some given to me, and some bought at yard sales.

This is the couch and coffee table The couch was white, and the table natural before painting. The little green tool box was bought at a flea market and was already this color.

Here's a former white rocker and in the background a former natural wicker plant stand.

And this piece was brown at one time. I bought the little table at a thrift store, and it was already this color.
It's fun decorating and reviving something with spray paint...I get lots of compliments on my wicker...some people think I bought it that color! And if I get tired of it...I'll just change the color..with spray paint of course!

Please come back by tomorrow....I'm going to post a Decorator's Challenge. I have a frame that orginally had a mirror in it that I got for $1.00 at a garage sale this weekend. I would love to have some input on what to do with it! I'm sure you talented bloggers will have lots of ideas.
Thanks for coming by. Have a great day.

Rainy Day Makeovers

Yesterday it rained all day long here! I usually don't stay home all day, but the slow rain made it a good day just to stay home and work on some projects. First, I put my ferns out so they could get a good watering. Then, before the rain started in, I spray painted a few things that needed a face lift. I had to move them to the shed before they were dry...and it took a little longer for them to dry because of the damp weather.
My daughter is having a Southern Living at Home party this weekend, and I'm helping her with some projects to get her home ready. She bought this picture for her screened porch at a recent garage sale.
She wanted it to be updated a little, so here it is with a new coat of paint...in none other that black! After looking at all the projects on blogs, I just couldn't picture it any other way.
Here is a rattan bird cage that I found at a yard sale a few weeks ago. I thought about painting it to match my porch.
But since I had the black paint out anyway.....I gave it a coat or two of black!

We may use it to decorate Kelli's porch, but for now and for the photo I put it on top of the new garage sale cabinet. I really like the contrast of the green plant and black. If she doesn't want to keep it for her porch, it may end up here.
So, there you have it! That's how I spent my rainy day...painting, blogging, washing clothes, etc! The rain finally stopped around 4 pm., and I decided to go to aerobics. How do you spend your rainy days? I'm hoping the sun will come out tomorrow! Thanks for stopping by!

"Tales" of a can of spray paint on Show and Tell Friday

Since I started blogging in May, I have gotten so many ideas from looking at before and after projects on different blogs. Also, I started going to garage sales again!

This tale starts with this vase I picked up at a yard sale. Have you ever bought something at a sale, and then wondered 'what was I thinking'???

That's exactly what happened after I bought this tall urn or vase (??) recently. It laid in my garage for about 3 weeks rejected and sad...once again! I finally decided to do something with it or just chalk it up to experience and toss it out.

So, like I said, reading blogs has been a source of inspiration. I picked up this can of spray paint at Lowes. The color is 'oil rubbed bronze.' I thought that sounded so pretty!And...here is my first finished project. It turned out more black than bronze...I think the name on the can is more of a gimmic! I haven't found the perfect faux flowers yet...I'm thinking of sunflowers or something tall and natural. Feel free to offer suggestions!
I think my daughter Kelli at Sassy Southern Mom liked it because she asked me to paint this Southern Living at Home container with the same paint. She picked this up at a garage sale for $1.oo! I think they were about $20.00 when they first introduced this product. Once again, here's the finished product photographed on my porch with my faux greenery. I can't wait to see what she does with it at her house. It will look great on her porch or front door. She will have it decked out much better than I have!
Do you remember all the hunter green stuff that was so popular a few years ago? This is one of Kelli's rejects that I've had for a while...the can wasn't empty yet so I thought why not? Here's that finished product! It looks more updated in black for sure. Connor helped with this one!The paint is not quite gone...so I'm on the lookout for my next victim, err...I mean project! What about this flower pot???
Kelli at There's No Place Like Home is hosting Show and Tell Friday. Stop by her blog for other Show and Tells!

Thanks for stopping by and have a great day,
