2nd Time Around: Music Boxes

Welcome to 2nd Time Around. Please join us by linking a post that features something that is a 2nd Time Around to you…something from a garage sale, flea market, thrift store, estate sale, etc. Please link your post rather than your blog, and link back to this blog. Thank you for participating.

Lately I’ve been running across music boxes while out shopping for my booths and for my Etsy store. I seem to be attracted to them, and may keep some of them and start a collection!

Here are some of my favorites. This first one is Red Riding Hood and the wolf. It plays a delightful version of “Who’s Afraid of the Big Bad Wolf”. As a former teacher I couldn’t resisit it! This one came from a Tuscaloosa, Al estate sale.

The second one is a nativity and plays a crystal clear version of silent night. It is made in Italy and may be Fontanni. It came from an estate sale in York, Ala.

This last one from a Meridian estate sale features a carousel with horses that move up and down. This one has special meaning to my grandkids because we have a historic carousel in Meridian that we visit occasionally with them. I’m not sure of the tune. It is made by the San Francisco Music Company.

So, which one do you like best? Do you collect anything? Thanks for stopping by, and please link your Second Time Around Post below.

I like all three, Diane, but the beautiful Nativity music box is my favorite. I love all things Italian, and would love to hear its music. I hope you keep it!

Good morning Diane, I am partial to Little Red Riding Hood but they each have their charm. I too love music boxes. They will make a great start to a sweet collection.

I will be out of town next Tues. and I won't have my computer.

See you when I return.
Hugs, Jeanne

I think the nativity could well be fontanini. My sister has an ornament collection of his.
I am partial to Red and her wolf.
Do I have collections???
Oh where to begin!

Hi Diane~ I love music boxes - they bring up such nice memories! I just saw a vintage jewelry box to store my "vintage thrift finds" in. I'm thinking after reading your post that I should go back and get it. This is my first time at your place and am pleased to participate!
