This picture shows another one of my daughter’s rejects that I inherited when she moved-I use it on my screened porch to add a little color to the table, or on a shelf to add color. It has four little wooden compartments, and a leather handle. It is kinda rustic looking which makes it perfect for the porch!

2nd Time Around: Daisy Chain dishes

These dishes pictures here are part of a set of dishes I ‘inherited’ from my daughter. The pattern is ‘Daisy Chain’ and was created by Mississippi artist Gail Pittman. She discontinued this pattern a few years ago, and recently has stopped producing all of her pottery that was made in Jackson, Ms. Occasionally I will run across a piece of this at a flea market or on EBAY, and if it is something I don’t have, I try to get it.

My daughter changed her color scheme completely when they moved into another home, so I got lucky! Thanks for stopping by today…hopefully things will go smoother this week.

 

 

Pink in Mykonos

Before we went on our Mediterranean Cruise, I had not heard of Mykonos, Greece. It was by far one of the most beautiful places that we stopped. These pictures show some of the sights…with a little pink here and there!

All of the buildings in Mykonos look like sugar cubes with a boxy look and are painted white and trimmed in blue. This one caught my eye with the name of our home town on the front!

Many of them had this beautiful vine with lovely pink flowers growing up the buildings and balconies.

Mykonos was one of Jackie O’s favorite hangouts!

Connor Catches a Fish!

This week I would like to share two photos that were made Tuesday of this week. Connor stays with us quite often during the summer, and he likes to fish a little in the lake by our house. Usually he gets tired of it pretty quickly, and moves on to something else. But today his efforts finally paid off! He caught his first fish….and it was a pretty big one!

He was very excited, and we just wanted to share his news with our blogging friends.

2nd Time Around: Square Baby Grand Piano

Welcome to 2nd Time Around. I hope you will join us by posting something that is a 2nd Time Around treasure…something that is from an antique store, flea market, thrift store, garage sale, etc.

This week I would like to share a very unusual piano that is in the only antebellum home we have in our town. This piano is a square baby grand, and was donated to the historical home many years ago. The story is that the piano originally came from Germany and was brought to Mississippi down a barge on the Mississippi River, then brought to our area by horse and buggy.

Tourists to the home always love this piece and have lots of questions about it. I researched the piano, and according to what I found the value is anywhere from $18,000 -$80,000! The piano is not in very good working condition…lots of the keys don’t play. So far, no one has been able to repair it, but it does make for a beautiful piece of furniture.

Pink in Croatia

In Croatia, the street markets were full of stands that sold crocheted items. In Croatia, the currency used is the Kuna. The rate is a little more that 5 kunas to one US dollar. So this crocheted sweater which is handmade would have cost about $16.00. Many of the merchants did take Euros since most of the visitors from the cruise ships are paying cash with Euros. It would have cost less in Euros…probably about 11-12 Euros.

I didn’t buy the sweater-it just caught my attention-probably because of Pink Saturday. LOL

I did however buy a crocheted dresser scarf from this merchant. She was happy to pose for a picture. The piece I chose cost 5 Euros.

In addition to beautiful pieces of crocheted work, Croatia is famous for their neckties. Didn’t find a pink one though, but my husband did buy one to wear on the ship.

2nd Time Around: Book to Movie-My Sister’s Keeper

This week I’m featuring a 2nd Time Around that is a little different. I recently read  Jodi Picoult’s novel My Sister’s Keeper, and today saw the movie. I highly recommend this movie if you haven’t seen it and the book if you haven’t read it!

It is a pretty sad movie, but very well done. The movie has a different ending from the movie, and I liked the movie’s ending a little better! Now I’m going to have to search for the book, and reread it-at least the ending!

I hope all of you are enjoying the 4th. We are relaxing at home and still recovering from our trip to Europe and the Mediterranean.

While on our trip, I spotted lots of pink in Paris that I want to share with you today! No matter where you go, it seems that pink stands out and makes the surroundings even prettier! And Paris was full of pink that begged to be photographed. Here are some of my favorite pink shots.
