2nd Time Around: Salt and Pepper Shakers

Jackson 005

Welcome to 2nd Time Around. Please join us by linking a post that features something that is a 2nd Time Around to you…something from a garage sale, flea market, thrift store, estate sale, etc. Please link your post rather than your blog, and link back to this blog. Thank you for participating.

One of the things I’m finding at estate sales, etc. is salt and pepper shakers. I did a post a while back on my first antique mall booth, and showed some of the salt and pepper shakers I have bought.

I continue to look for them everywhere I go, because they usually don’t require much investment, and usually people like them! Those pictures from my booth can be viewed here. The booth is still going strong although it looks different. The china cabinet has been sold and lots of other stuff too! Maybe one day soon I will have pictures of the new booth to share.

My favorite salt and pepper shakers are these…I use them often. They were given to me by my daughter when she moved into her new home. These didn’t fit into her new decor…but they did mine! The pattern is Daisy Chain by Gail Pittman.

I couldn’t resist buying these little guys….they were made in Japan and so cute!

This retro pair of S and P shakers was sold this week on Etsy! I love the look and they are very functional too!

I have sold several sets of S and P shakers including two hugging geese, a set of pigs, and the hen with eggs in the mall link. I love to look for them, and wish I had enough space to collect them!

How about you? Do any of you collect Salt and Pepper shakers? Tell me about it!

Diane I like your salt & peppers. I had some teddy bear ones I should put on here at 2nd Time Around. I am very sorry, I goofed on my link. The #2 link said Drapery Tiebacks and you can delete it. I don't know how. I guess I am still kinda new to some things on blogging. I meant to post as I did on #3. Sorry.

Good morning Diane, I have always loved S & P's. My sisters sell lots of them. There are many collectors out there. Buy the ones that are cute and funky. They sell the fastest. Love the daisy chain pattern.

I am so happy to hear your sales are going well. You go girl. Happy smile here for you.
Hugs, Jeanne

The monkeys are my favorite, too, Diane ... and I love the Daisy Chain set.

It sounds like you're having fun with your booth and are selling lots of stuff, which makes it even more fun.

I love seeing and hearing about it.

Although I don't collect Salt and Pepper Shakers I do enjoy looking at them when I visit antique malls and fairs. So many different kinds. I do have a set that look like an electric mixer and I use it as a prop with my Chatty Cathy dolls. I have another set that looks like an old television and I use that set as a prop with my Ginny Dolls. That's not really a collection. :)

I goofed too...I put in a link back to my blog and not the actual post, but I guess it will be OK until I post again.

I love the salt and pepper sets, especially the monkeys. I would love to collect the S&P's but like you, don't have room.
Thanks for sharing and thank you for giving us this Meme to show off out second time around treasures.

Hi Diane,
I collect salt and pepper shakers as well. Unfortunately they are all stored away. I would like to make a special shelf to display them.

My mom had a very large collection of salt and pepper shakers. Some were really cute!!! My dad and sister chose to just sell them all off (what we thought was cheaply) to one lady instead of selling them on line, or having them appraised .... aw well.

They did gift one set to my husband - he collects elephants, and it is a ceramic elephant, holding both salt and pepper shakers, as well as vinegar and oil dispensers, in packs over it's back. Very cute - and special!

Those monkey salt & pepper shakers are too fun! I definitely would love to collect a few sets of shakers. There is one problem though, I would end up with so many! I've seen plenty that I love already :o)

Hi Diane, thank you for your kind words about my Uncle. The funeral was a wonderful celebration of his life. I am so glad I was able to attend.

I am still trying to catch up with the pinkies. Sigh. My kids are coming this weekend to ski. after that I should slow down a bit.

Happy hunting for your new venture.

Hugs, Jeanne

I just started collecting S&P shakers about 6 months ago. As you say, they don't require a huge investment and there are so many kinds to choose from. Those monkey ones are so cute!
