Lucy and Dixie

Last week I posted a picture of my son Jonathan in the snow with Lucy, our beloved family pet. So in an effort to be fair, I am going to post a picture of Kelli with Lucy and her dog Dixie.

I don't know if you can tell from the expression on her face, but Lucy never cared too much for Dixie. Guess it was jealousy!

Kelli bought Dixie right after she got married. She missed Lucy so much and thought that she wanted a dachshund just like Lucy. Jonathan was with her, and loaned her the money. I always thought that was so generous of him!

Later, after Connor was born, she had to give Dixie to another family. She never was very good with children and didn't have the personality that Lucy had!

Some days I want another dog, and other days I wonder if I must be crazy to want to go through the puppy stage again!

Please visit Deborah at Pictures Pots and Pens for more Family Fotos on Friday.

Thanks for the visit!

Shower Centerpiece: Tablescape Thursday

Tuesday night I hosted an informal bridal shower for a young lady that will be getting married on February 14th. Her mom is one of my teacher friends, and I volunteered to host the shower here since I am the only one not working now!

Everyone else prepared the food...my only job was to clean the house and prepare the table.

So for Tablescape Thursday, I thought I would show you the table. I didn't put the leaf in the round table because I didn't have a tablecloth that matched her colors...red and white. All of my red tablecloths were too 'Christmasy.' I tried white, but wasn't satisfied with the look, so left the table bare.

For the center, I placed red roses in a cut glass vase that I bought from an estate sale. I place everything on square mirrors that I picked up from a garage sale this past summer.
I used punch cups filled with water and floating candles around the vase. The ring of tiny roses and white babies breath surrounding the cup came from Dollar Tree.
I found these little mercury glass votives at Cracker Barrel on sale, and alternated these between the punch cups.
And here is the picture of the table after the food was placed.
We all had a wonderful time catching up and visiting!

Cottage Garden

Today is Outdoor Wednesday! Please visit Susan at A Southern Daydreamer for more outdoor posts.

This picture is one of Connor in my cottage garden flower bed in Spring of 2004. I am so ready to get outside and start working in the flowers again! This bed was full of Shasta Daisies, Blue Victoria Salvia, and daylilies.

It is one of my favorite spots and is next to the sidewalk leading to the front porch.

Thanks for stopping by!
