Show and Tell: Fall Nesting Pictures

I have looked at lots of Fall decorations on blogs and guess I felt like the Grinch that Stole Fall for not jumping in and decorating for fall when everyone else in blogland was doing it.

So, finally I decided I might as well give it a try. I started with something really simple...candy corn in a pretty container. This is a new one I bought from a Southern Living at Home Party.

Everyone has raved so much about those little glass pumpkins from Dollar Tree. I finally made it by there and found the orange and brown ones. Here they are displayed on an estate sale balance scale. I talked to the sales clerk and asked about the white ones, and he told me that these pumpkins had been restocked several times. So, apparently everyone loves them. I think they look more expensive that a dollar!
Dollar tree also had these little packages of pumpkins, squash and gourds. They come 6 to a pack and are in all the fall colors. I bought a few packs of these.
The picture below is what I made. I first saw this idea on Kimba's blog, A Soft Place to Land, and thought it was so cute. I used my Southern Living Jamestown tray and Yankee candle votives (I already had these) on top of clear glass stem ware turned upside down. I put one of the little pumpkins under each glass and scattered Dollar Tree leaves on top of the sideboard. It turned out pretty cute and looks good when the candles are lit and reflect in the mirror on the sideboard.
This next picture is my Southern Living farm basket I've had for eons. I used the little pumpkins, gourds, and squash in it with a glass turned upside down in the middle and a votive on top of that. I had to take this pic without the flash...the berries which are orange looked red with the flash on so it's not as clear as it should be.
And finally, here is a picture from my front porch. I bought the sign at the Hope Village Thrift store. The basket and clay pot both came from garage sales. The mums are from Walmart.

Now, I guess my Grinchy heart has grown and I'm finally in the fall spirit. I may even add more stuff. Who knows!

Yum, yum, more candy corn! I ate most of mine promptly after photographing it for my fall banner. Did you know they make caramel apple candy corn, too? It is also yummy, didn't even get a photograph of it...

Hi Diane,

Your fall decor looks great. Are those real mums? I wanted to place some fall flowers by my front door but I would kill the real kind. That little sign is so cute. :-)

Awesome job! I love everything you've done, especially the display on your tray. I laughed when I read about you going to the Dollar Tree because I went there today too and bought the same exact things - more of the ceramic pumpkins and more of the plastic stuff in the bags. I think I may have enough now!

I forgot to say that your header looks so good!!!

After looking at all the show and tell Friday's I am starting to feel like a "fall scrooge". My family is stationed on the island of Guam and so I kind of forget about fall! I am going to have to get on it! Your home looks warm & cozy. Great job!

Love your new (again) header, I need to think of something for fall and change mine. I love all your southern living items and I'll take a handful of that candy corn please!lol Have a great weekend - Sincerely, Jeannette

I love those ceramic pumpkins from $Tree. I didn't find any at the one here in town or the others I've checked in our area. I wonder if I should check again.

Hi Diane,
Thank you for stopping by my blog. I will make running to the Dollar store priority tomorrow. I can't believe you got such great items there.
You had asked about my blogs.
I post general things on Lace and Lures as it is my main one and then when we get to work on the house I post about it. Sometimes it will be a couple of weeks before we go and all I have now are a mess of too many before pictures. My next post on OneShabbyoldshouse will be a before and finally an After.
Thanks for asking and adding me to your reader.

Great fall post! Your dollar tree purchases are perfect. Fall is really starting to show in our leaves around these parts. You mentioned my yellow sideboard. I bought it several years ago unfinished and never tire of it. Thanks for dropping in.

Diane, I love all of your fall decorations, but I think my favorite is your Jamestown tray arrangement with the votives. What a unique idea to use the upturned glasses to hold the candles. They're so pretty reflecting in the mirror. They'll be pretty for Thanksgiving, too!

Oh, my gosh ... it will be here before we know it. Guess we'd better start thinking about that too! .. lol

Janie
