Have you ever wanted to change your Christmas tree decor but knew that starting over was out of the question? I started by changing the location of our tree. It has always been in front of one of the windows, now it is between the living and dining areas and is out from the wall.
I wanted to add a little more 'pop' to my tree, but still hang on to my red and white. Here is a picture of some of the red, white, and clear decorations that I've bought in recent years.
And here is the tree after I added my shimmery lime green ribbon and new ornaments to the tree. I also used red and alternated it with the green ribbon throughout the tree. Please excuse the boxes....I make a big mess when I decorate!
It is hard to get a picture of a Christmas tree that does it justice...so here is one without the flash.
I also added these feathery looking things I bought on sale after Christmas at Pier 1. They have little tiny mirrors on them and you just poke them in the branches. I think they really dressed up my tree and reflect lots of light.
Here's an close up view of one of the crystal prism ornaments I bought a few years ago...halfprice of course!
And another close up showing the ribbon and new green ornaments.
I have several of the little pear shaped ornaments with the white swirls. They came from Dollar Tree a few years ago!
I am a self confessed tree tweaker! I have been known to buy tree decorations on sale after Christmas and come home and hang them on the tree before I take the tree down!
So far this year I'm happy with the tree....it's in a new location-and has some added pizazz with the lime green ornaments and ribbon.
What do you do to change up the look of your tree?

I am LOVING this!!!!
Oh, we are Christmas tree kindred spirits. I am always messing with the trees....trying to do more. I always buy something after Christmas and have to see how it will look! Your tree looks beautiful. I said the same thing on my blog about trying to take a good picture of it.
Your treee is very pretty...I kike your color scheme and your use of the red and lime green ribbons. It's always fun to try new things each year with the trees.

Hi Diane, I love the added touches you did to your tree! Last year I moved mine to a new location too! I can relate what a difference that makes!
Love, Ann
Diane, I absolutely adore it. You did a FABULOUS job with it, and the green balls and feathery things add so much ooomph value. It's perfection. Way to go!
XO,
Sheila
My family always laughs at me...as I am a "tweaker" LOL....yes I adore the tree as you are fluffing, stuffing, coloring and tweaking! Great job!
Your tree is gorgeous, Diane ... I love the touch of lime and the "feathery things" ... it's so pretty and Christmasy!
I hope your weekend is Merry and Bright!
Janie
Your tree is just beautiful. I love the white things with the mirrors. The colors you used are wonderful! You put a lot of effort into your tree and it shows!
take care,
Dawn
Your photos came out beautifully, Diane.
I have enough ornaments, thanks to my dad the crazy Christmas shopper, to decorate 3 trees, so I rotate and come up with themes each year. Last year it was only ornaments that reflected light. This year I am doing only vintage.
Diane,
Your tree is to die for...love all the decorations and pretty colors! Those feathery things are so neat...I'll have to check them out at Pier 1 when I get the chance! You've really done an amazing job!
The only thing I really do to jazz up our tree is buy some new ornaments from year to year, or change out the topper.
Happy Friday to ya!
Just Beautiful Diane...I am loving this tree...hugs and smiles Gloria
Good Morning, Diane! Your tree is beautiful! I love the feathery things from Pier 1...well actually I love it all! :) The lime green accents really make it pop, too! ~Hugs, Rhonda :)
Great Tweaker you are!!!

Great tree!!! I love the feathery stuff!
Your tree is beautiful! I love the way you used the lime green ribbon to accent the tree. Also the new white feathery picks you added really make the tree and I am sure the reflections from the lights is gorgeous. Tree decorating is my thing,( I do it for a living over the holidays) and I have to say, yours is fabulous.
Wow, your tree is gorgeous!
The ribbon especially caught my eye!
Wow! Your tree is absolutely amazing. I love it!
Diane...your tree is beautiful! I love the addition of the PIER 1 sticks with mirrors!!! Wonderful!!
~Blessings,
Jan
It's wonderful Diane! I love to move the trees around to different spots and just adding a few new things makes it look all together different.
That lime and red together is fabulous!
Absolutely Beautiful! You did a wonderful job :-)
I love your "tweaking". I'm liking the lime green too. I don't fiddle much with my trees. I have the traditional ornaments collected over the years (and I do mean "years") and my patriotic tree that I've done for years. I add to but haven't changed them. I just keep thinking about the added storage if I change them and I don't have enough storage as it is! PAM
You did an amazing job with that tree, thanks for the ideas!
Oh wee girl..talk about a makeover!!!!! Diane that is gorgeous! My Jen has a tree with lime greens and reds and she would love this...she puts a tree in every room and she has your kind of touch..can just make them beautiful!! Wow girl..it looks like something in a department store window! Have a great weekend sweetie!
I love the way you embellished the tree. The ribbon and feathers make it just gorgeous.
Your tree is beautiful with all the special touches. You did a great job!

Diane,
Now, I have no intention of taking a picture of my tree--not after I've seen this PROFESSIONAL-looking one you did. It's just gorgeous! Good job.
WOW! That is a gorgeous tree. I'm off to work on mine now. :-)
Oh. My. Goodness. You are the Queen of Tweak! This is spectacular. Makes me want to go down and tweak a bit, myself! I love the lime green ribbon.
I did some small ornamental things for Christmas in lime green, pink, and chocolate - a first for me. It was inspired by a challenge from an art challenge site, and they gave me the papers, etc. to use. I was amazed at how much I liked that!
Here's a link in case you are interested in seeing what it looked like. Maybe next year...
Nancy
What a beautiful tree! It shows very well in the pictures!
Your tree looks wonderful. I actually did a whole new tree last year and my kids had a field day and went on "strike". They like the old ornaments, the "no theme"...blah, blah, blah. I was outvoted this year so all the old is going back up this year. My home is "cozy" so no room for a second tree just for me :p.
Your Christmas tree is so beautiful! I love how you shared with us photographs of each phase of decorating. And I love the end result! ~Arleen
I love it! The lime green and the little things sticking out really just make it all pop!
Such a festive and happy tree. I love the red and lime colors.
It just SCREAMS festive! Beautiful!
It looks your cozy and lovely home is ready for the holiday.... which reminds me I don't even have a Christmas tree yet... ;) Better hurry! Have a blessed Hopeful Friday!
cielo
Hi Diane! I do do that, move the tree to different locations, mostly because I never have a great spot for it!!!lol I'm loving the lime green I'm seeing and it looks especially happy with the red! Updates the tree instantly. You have some beauties here and I probably would have passed by the furry stuff but not anymore!!lol Very pretty tree!!! Have a fun weekend - Sincerely, Jeannette
I LOVE it!
Great job.
Blessings,
Catherine
YOU did jazz the tree up!!! LOVE IT! The lime green looks great. My daughter has added a lot of that color to her tree and it made it look great too. You really can decorate!!
WOW...what a beautiful tree! I love it! There have been so many with pretty trees in blogland...
Great job!
I'm a new convert to ribbons myself...love it much better than the tinsel garland!
Have a wonderful day!☺
They had this giant Christmas tree in the mall where I worked last year. I tried time and again to get a picture that would do it justice -- nothing worked. I think that is because our eye shoot out happy feeling rays that illuminate the tree and are invisible to the camera.
I think my faves from your tree are the feathers and the ribbons! It sure came together nicely - you must have 'the eye' for if I did this it would look like a thrift shop tree, for sure.
Thanks for inviting us to gaze at your pretty tree today!
Love the lime green ornaments.
Roberta Anne
Love your tree...it is truly beautiful!
Have a blessed and wonderful Christmas!
smiles, kari & kijsa
I LOVE your tree...it is GORGEOUS! It is difficult to take a good picture of the tree isn't it?!?
I came by last night, but my computer froze up while I was trying to leave a comment. Love the bling you've added to the tree. Especially the sparklies & green ribbon. Great job. You should work at Michael's.
I love this change! Awesome...it's beautiful!
I'd never think to add lime green to red and white ornaments but it looks so nice! Your tree is so full and the feathers are such a pretty touch! Can you believe I'm not putting up a tree this year? It's killing me but we will be away, and I don't dare leave a real tree alone so long. My son has one up and I'll probably end up rearranging all his ornaments --lol!
Have a great weekend! Hugs, Pat
Gorgeous, gorgeous tree!!! Your pictures are fantastic.
Christmas blessings to you.
I love everything you've done to your tree - the lime ribbon is fantastic. And it's amazing what really great ornaments can be found at the Dollar Tree, isn't it? :o)
I love the lime color with the red and white. Those seem to be very current colors I've been seeing in lots of modern and whimsical types of Christmas decorations, so I think you made a great color pick there. It looks wonderful!
Diane,
Your tree looked great before but now....WOW! Amazing what just a few additions will do.
I'm also glad to know that I'm not the only one moving things around even after Christmas. You might see a picture of an arrangement in my house one day and two days later it's in another place.
Your tree looks terrific. You've inspired me.
Gretchen
Diane, I was on your post yesterday loving your tree and the new look and I can't find a comment from me anywhere. I must be losing my cluttered mind. Cluttered with all the Christmas goings on. I love what you did to add to the beauty of your tree. It looks like the ones we saw at the Biltmore. I'm serious, it is gorgeous. Good job.
Three Christmas cheers for you my friend...Jeanne
Just gorgeous! I do the same thing with gold ribbon, but will have to remember the coordinated ribbon. Just a pretty look!
Kelli
Beautiful decorated tree! That's how I hope my tree will look like this year!
That's one beautifully decorated tree! Love the lime green ribbon that you've run through it!
Manuela
Well, from what I have read this year, you are very trendy adding the lime green! It's in all the magazines (and I read them all!) so you are sooooo stylish! Looks great...enjoyed the day...so tired!
Hey Diane!

It is beautiful... love the sparkle. As you can see in my post, I am not much of a tweaker!
That is one gorgeous tree. It looks just like one of those professionally decorated ones you see at the department stores! WOW!

OMGoodness!
This is gorgeous!
I'm bookmarking this because I need to come back and feast with my eyes a little more later, lol.
Merry Christmas!
Your tree is beautiful. The ribbons and extra ornaments really added a lot. I like all the colors, and I love the little shimmery-feather thingys & the red/white bead thingys. I need some of those for my tree.
Wow, I'd be dangerous if I had just a touch of the talent you show here! Beautiful!
Your tree is beautiful!!! I love it!
I love it!!
I need to jazz up my tree. I've been doing the same thing for the last 4 or 5 years. It's time to liven things up a bit! I want to add sparkle, feathers and a touch of modern to my more traditional tree.
Come see for yourself!
