Sally at Smiling Sally hosts Blue Monday. Please stop by her blog to see all the bloggers having fun with blue! I promised you on Saturday that I would show another Nativity that I bought that didn't make it home! The colors in this Nativity were predominately blue. This picture is my friend Karen with a nun from the gift shop at the Vatican during our trip to Italy last Dec and Jan. Karen is holding the Nativity scene that I bought. Don't ask me why I'm not in the picture...I don't remember. LOL Karen and I called her 'the pushy Nun' because she tried to get us to buy everything bigger and more expensive than what we picked out. Here' s a close up of the box. Having a Nativity that was made in Italy and came from the Vatican was very important to me..it was the one souvenir that I knew I wanted before I ever went. The Nativity was so much prettier than the box shows! It was very unique-unlike anything I had ever seen before.
You are probably wondering what happened to it. No it didn't get stolen! American Airlines lost my luggage on the trip home! In fact, I don't think my luggage ever made it out of Rome since it wasn't in New York City when we arrived and had to go through customs.
I often wonder what happened to it. Is it in someone's home now? Where did it end up? In all fairness to American Airlines, they did pay for all of my missing souveneirs and clothes. They gave me exactly what I filed in the claim. If you ever travel, here's some advice-always have a receipt for anything you purchase over $100 in value-they require it before they will reimburse you. Luckily for me I used my credit card so I had plenty of proof!
Back to the Vatican-this picture is a life size Nativity in Saint Peter's Square at Vatican City. Please note the beautiful shade of blue that Mary is wearing.
Thanks for stopping by today. Please visit Sally for lots more blue inspiration!

Even though the airlines paid for it, you are still missing you're longed-for treasure. What a shame! The picture of people portraying the nativity is super. Happy Blue Monday!
You did not permalink, and people may have troubles finding the post after today. See rule #3. (Please drag the Blue Monday button and place it on your post.)
Diane, awwwwww... I'm sorry you didn't get your treasure!
XO,
Sheila
Oh my, losing my luggage is one of my worst fears. I try to fly with everything I need in a carry on just so I won't worry so much. You have the right idea hoping someone else is enjoying your nativity. God Bless You! Love, Faith
Maybe you can find the same nativity online. That's a shame!
My very favorite Christmas piece is a nativity that my dad gave me when he got his new one. He was going to throw it away! I can't imagine, especially now that I have grown to love it so much.
Oh my, that is such a sad story. Glad you have the photos! I hope you can return someday and buy another one :0)
Losing luggage is definitely a nightmare. Too bad it was the one with the nativity in it. Hope you have a Happy Blue Monday!
That's so sad it didn't make it home! I would almost rather someone found it and was enjoying it than to think it is sitting in a storage bin somewhere.
Oh NO! That is awful! That is such a fear of mine. I'm a larger lady and I wear Emma James, and it's not being made anymore! If the airlines lost my bag- I wouldn't have any clothing left! But that pales compared to the Nativiy Scene! I'm so sorry for you!
I wish you had made it home with your treasure..
Happy Blue Mpnday and have a great week..
What a sad story! I am so sorry that happened. You are very fortunate to have been able to go to the Vatican. It's something I have always wanted to do. I love the picture of the nativity. Thank you for sharing. Blessings to you and your family this Christmas season.
