Do you think this man is honest and to be trusted or not?
Last year this time, we were getting ready to go to Italy. One night my husband and I and my friend Karen went around the corner late at night to have some Italian deserts. The Italian man in my picture was so nice and friendly. We paid with our debit card. He handed me the thing to punch in a code...I thought he wanted the pin number! Turned out, it was for the tip! And our pin number starts with 50 something! This meant we were giving him a tip of over $75.00 in American dollars!
Turned out he was honest, and even though he couldn't speak any English he voided the sale and communicated to us what had happened. Somehow I managed to communicate to him that we would tip with cash!
Moral of the story-if you travel overseas, try to learn to speak a little of their language! And use a credit card instead of a debit card! LOL

Morning Diane,
Good thing he WAS honest! It would make me nervous to travel where I couldn't understand the language....I know I am probably weird but I would always be worried....lol
We want to go to Italy, so thanks for the 'tip'...(smile, that was a pun). I've never heard of this practice! I'm glad you discovered what had happened! I'll bet you all had a ball travelling together. Great photo! Thank you for emailing me...I don't know why I didn't get you first one. I have added you.
Hugs,
Deborah
Good suggestion. When we went to Europe, we took traveler's checks and one credit card. I'm glad to learn that Italy has an honest waiter. lol
All's well that ends well!
lol, that's a cute story :) Ciao, bella! ;)
Oh my gosh! That is so funny.. I love your story! And you are SO right... I went to Vienna a few years ago, I asked the bartender for directions to the ladies room, and she sent me into the 'MENS ROOM' !! When I returned, the whole place was laughing!! and so was I!
Merry Christmas!
Teresa
That is definitely a good tip. It is so refreshing to come across honest people. :-) Those desserts look delicious!
what a lucky break that he was honest! I hope you had a merry Christmas
Thanks for the tip!
No, to tell you the truth, he does not look honest. He looks a little sly to me. Looks are deceiving sometimes. Thanks for the tip!
Actually I thought he looked a little suspicious, I was wrong. He's just a good looking Italian man lol
Good for you for finding an honest man. That would have been a great tip! I hope the food was fabulous.

I am sure glad he was honest! YIKES! Our son lived in the Rome area for several years and found the Italians to be quite wonderful people.
