Jazzing up the Tree

For more Christmas Trees visit Tip Junkie!

Have you ever wanted to change your Christmas tree decor but knew that starting over was out of the question?
I started by changing the location of our tree. It has always been in front of one of the windows, now it is between the living and dining areas and is out from the wall.

I wanted to add a little more 'pop' to my tree, but still hang on to my red and white. Here is a picture of some of the red, white, and clear decorations that I've bought in recent years.
And here is the tree after I added my shimmery lime green ribbon and new ornaments to the tree. I also used red and alternated it with the green ribbon throughout the tree. Please excuse the boxes....I make a big mess when I decorate!
It is hard to get a picture of a Christmas tree that does it justice...so here is one without the flash.
I also added these feathery looking things I bought on sale after Christmas at Pier 1. They have little tiny mirrors on them and you just poke them in the branches. I think they really dressed up my tree and reflect lots of light.
Here's an close up view of one of the crystal prism ornaments I bought a few years ago...halfprice of course!
And another close up showing the ribbon and new green ornaments.

I have several of the little pear shaped ornaments with the white swirls. They came from Dollar Tree a few years ago!
I am a self confessed tree tweaker! I have been known to buy tree decorations on sale after Christmas and come home and hang them on the tree before I take the tree down!

So far this year I'm happy with the tree....it's in a new location-and has some added pizazz with the lime green ornaments and ribbon.

What do you do to change up the look of your tree?

Oh, we are Christmas tree kindred spirits. I am always messing with the trees....trying to do more. I always buy something after Christmas and have to see how it will look! Your tree looks beautiful. I said the same thing on my blog about trying to take a good picture of it.

Your photos came out beautifully, Diane.
I have enough ornaments, thanks to my dad the crazy Christmas shopper, to decorate 3 trees, so I rotate and come up with themes each year. Last year it was only ornaments that reflected light. This year I am doing only vintage.

Diane,

Your tree is to die for...love all the decorations and pretty colors! Those feathery things are so neat...I'll have to check them out at Pier 1 when I get the chance! You've really done an amazing job!

The only thing I really do to jazz up our tree is buy some new ornaments from year to year, or change out the topper.

Happy Friday to ya!

Your tree is beautiful! I love the way you used the lime green ribbon to accent the tree. Also the new white feathery picks you added really make the tree and I am sure the reflections from the lights is gorgeous. Tree decorating is my thing,( I do it for a living over the holidays) and I have to say, yours is fabulous.

It's wonderful Diane! I love to move the trees around to different spots and just adding a few new things makes it look all together different.

That lime and red together is fabulous!

Absolutely Beautiful! You did a wonderful job :-)

I love your "tweaking". I'm liking the lime green too. I don't fiddle much with my trees. I have the traditional ornaments collected over the years (and I do mean "years") and my patriotic tree that I've done for years. I add to but haven't changed them. I just keep thinking about the added storage if I change them and I don't have enough storage as it is! PAM

You did an amazing job with that tree, thanks for the ideas!

Oh. My. Goodness. You are the Queen of Tweak! This is spectacular. Makes me want to go down and tweak a bit, myself! I love the lime green ribbon.
I did some small ornamental things for Christmas in lime green, pink, and chocolate - a first for me. It was inspired by a challenge from an art challenge site, and they gave me the papers, etc. to use. I was amazed at how much I liked that!
Here's a link in case you are interested in seeing what it looked like. Maybe next year...

Your tree looks wonderful. I actually did a whole new tree last year and my kids had a field day and went on "strike". They like the old ornaments, the "no theme"...blah, blah, blah. I was outvoted this year so all the old is going back up this year. My home is "cozy" so no room for a second tree just for me :p.

They had this giant Christmas tree in the mall where I worked last year. I tried time and again to get a picture that would do it justice -- nothing worked. I think that is because our eye shoot out happy feeling rays that illuminate the tree and are invisible to the camera.

I think my faves from your tree are the feathers and the ribbons! It sure came together nicely - you must have 'the eye' for if I did this it would look like a thrift shop tree, for sure.

Thanks for inviting us to gaze at your pretty tree today!

I'd never think to add lime green to red and white ornaments but it looks so nice! Your tree is so full and the feathers are such a pretty touch! Can you believe I'm not putting up a tree this year? It's killing me but we will be away, and I don't dare leave a real tree alone so long. My son has one up and I'll probably end up rearranging all his ornaments --lol!

Have a great weekend! Hugs, Pat

I love everything you've done to your tree - the lime ribbon is fantastic. And it's amazing what really great ornaments can be found at the Dollar Tree, isn't it? :o)

I love the lime color with the red and white. Those seem to be very current colors I've been seeing in lots of modern and whimsical types of Christmas decorations, so I think you made a great color pick there. It looks wonderful!

Diane,

Your tree looked great before but now....WOW! Amazing what just a few additions will do.

I'm also glad to know that I'm not the only one moving things around even after Christmas. You might see a picture of an arrangement in my house one day and two days later it's in another place.

Your tree looks terrific. You've inspired me.

Diane, I was on your post yesterday loving your tree and the new look and I can't find a comment from me anywhere. I must be losing my cluttered mind. Cluttered with all the Christmas goings on. I love what you did to add to the beauty of your tree. It looks like the ones we saw at the Biltmore. I'm serious, it is gorgeous. Good job.

Three Christmas cheers for you my friend...Jeanne

I need to jazz up my tree. I've been doing the same thing for the last 4 or 5 years. It's time to liven things up a bit! I want to add sparkle, feathers and a touch of modern to my more traditional tree.
