Pink Fruits

If you've been keeping up with me, you may know that I'm trying to shed a few pounds. One of the changes our group leader wants us to do is be very specific about 'how' we are going to accomplish our goal.

Instead of setting a goal of "I want to eat more fruit," we are encouraged to be more specific. So, one of my goals for this past week was: I will eat fruit with each meal.
So, since I have fruit on my mind, I did a search on pink fruit.

Did you know that there was an apple named "Pink Lady?" I haven't seen these around here, but will look for them.

Of course I found watermelon. This is one of my very favorites! Can't wait til summer!
And I found pink grapefruit! Which I have to admit I've not developed a taste for! I probably should try since I found out this important information about pink grapefruits.

"Lycopene is an antioxidant pigment found in tomatoes, grapefruit and watermelon that gives these foods their reddish color. Studies show that including lycopene-rich foods in your diet may help to reduce the risk of prostate and breast cancer, macular degeneration and cardiovascular disease. Lycopene may also help prevent osteoporosis and reduce the severity of allergy symptoms"

I found some fruit that I had no idea even existed like this bowl of Lychees! Would you like to know more about them? Click here!

Please visit Beverly at How Sweet the Sound for more inspirational pink!

And don't forget to eat your fruit!

I wish you the very best with your weight loss.I know how hard it is.I lost 12 pounds in 1 ½ month just walking for 30 to 45 minutes every day except weekends. The only diet I followed was that I eliminated all sweets.I have 8 more pounds to go, but I will continue walking. It makes me feel great.
Happy Pink Saturday !

Great reminder to eat more healthily! We get Pink Lady apples here in CA, and they are indeed quite pretty and delicious. We sometimes see lychees in Asian supermarkets, too - I've had lychee juice but never tried to use the actual fruit. Now maybe i will!

Diane,
Thanks for this colorful post which gives me encouragement to stick to one of my New Year's resolutions...."Eat More Fresh Fruit". Seeing the photo of the watermelon reminds me of a fat and jolly Catholic friend who always bragged about giving up watermelon for Lent. (So easy to do since watermelon was NOT in season or available back then during Lent.)

I have heard of the Pink Lady variety of apple but I never see them at the grocery store - maybe they can be found at a more upscale market, perhaps? I've heard of lychees but had never seen them. Interesting information Diane, and good luck on your program! :o)

Hey Diane..I love fruit...I just don't always think to eat it...I am holding my weight right now..I gotta switch up some things and keep it going...the Burly Boys stopped by here this morning after duck hunting (man I should have taken some pics they were in full camos and face make-up!) lol They said they were starving and wanted some bacon..egg & tomatoes sandwiches and throw in some fried chicken tenders too! lol So I cook everything up real quick and they go to reach for the bread (wheat light) and oldest Burly says 'MOM!!! what is this!!!!? At the same moment youngest Burly is looking in the fridge for something to drink..."MOM!!! What is up with all this Crystal light and grapefuit juice & green tea!!?" lol I am trying to explain to them that I am trying to cut back...they finish everything off and want to know if I have any dessert I said sure they are some little 100 calorie mini muffins in the pantry....Oldest Burly acted like he was gonna faint! What happen to you MOM!!! It use to be fun coming to mama's house...chocolate milk..ice cream..cakes and pies...now she's trying to feed us these cardboard nuggets with little whipped cream in them!" lol Girl they had me rolling in the floor! lol lol

I need to eat more fruit! I do like pink grapefruit, but I always sprinkle a little sugar on the top. It seems to take away the bitter taste. My kids love them this way...give it a try! There are red grapefuit now and they might even be a little better.

Hi Diane, we have been gone all day and now I am so stressed to try and visit my Pinkie friends. We did have a fun day and that is something we haven't been able to do with so much company.

Now for your delicious pink post today. I could exist on fruit. I will always choose fruit over any salty snack. Your pics are great. I have never had Lychees before. I will check it out next. Best wishes on your weight loss quest. I gained a few pounds over Christmas. I know it was all those Christmas cookies. smile.

Have a great Sunday.

Hugs and love...Jeanne

Thanks for stopping by...I thought it would be pretty neat to hear about other items people may buy and share their thoughts. I know I can read reviews online but how do I know they are not from the company who promotes their item. This way at least we all know our bloggin friends will be honest about things. Yeah Mr. Linky is different from most...the one I got looks like most of the others if you click on it.

I have heard of things being lychee scented but I have never seen a lychee before - interesting!

When I was a kid I ate an apple that was pink on the inside - have no clue what it was and I've never found one since!

Hi Diane! My mouth is watering. I am nuts about cold watermelon and this picture I just wanted to reach into!lol I can eat pink grapefruit but not white?? BUT I have to sprinkle a little sugar on it so I guess that kind of defeats the purpose and isn't on the diet??? I've never heard of lyches??(I forgot the spelling and couldn't go back to look?!)lol Any way continued success and luck with your diet! (I've kind of given up until Monday!lol) Sincerely Jeannette

I love fresh fruit! Which isn't to say that I don't dearly love cakes and chocolate too! Knowing the health benefits does make it more encouraging to substitute some fruity goodness for the beckoning chocolatey goodness at times though. :-)
