I went to several garage sales, an estate sale, and 3 different resale shops this weekend. Here are the highlights of my loot:
First, from the Hope Village Thrift shop I found this frame. It is so much prettier than this picture shows. It is about a 16 by 20. I think I'll have a mirror put in it to hang over my library table.
Here is a little rabbit from Hope Village Thift Store. One of the lessons I've learned from blogging is don't let the color keep you from buying something if the price is right! I liked his shape so I tried to overlook the yellow and green paint. He will get a quick coat of spray paint soon....not sure which color.
I bought the faux plant, the zebra birdhouse, and 4 cd's at a neighborhood sale. The 4 cd's were 25 cents each. I wish there would be more neighborhood sales! It saves gas, and is fun. There was supposed to be 7 sales in this area, but I only found 5.
From the estate sale I bought these two wicker rockers, 2 clay pots, and a child gate to keep Cooper off the stairs. The wicker will get a coat of paint ...not sure yet what color. And you can't ever have too many clay pots! Right??
At the same estate sale, Connor found this little....thingamajig! It is for playing bingo I think. He asked me if he could get it, and you know how that goes! LOL He got tired of it pretty quick though, and didn't even mention taking it home with him.
I also found him this Nintendo Game Cube with a box full of games. He asked for that too! And I have to admit, it kept him happy the rest of the day!
Then on Saturday, I rode with my teacher friend Janet to Tuscaloosa, Alabama to the teacher supply store. After going there we browsed a few antique shops. When riding near the University we spotted a couple of consignment shops. And I got these two pictures. This one will be hung over my sofa.
And this one will be hung in the breakfast room! The consignment shops were full of great buys and I thought the prices were very reasonable! Of course the prices are higher than a garage sale, but much less than retail. Next time I'm in Tuscaloosa you can bet I'll stop by these shops!
One thing for sure....you never know what you'll find at a yard sale or thrift store!

I see you were really MOTIVATED!! Good job!!! I love the pictures and frames...and the wicker!!! YAY!!
Will you be going out this weekend, too?
~Blessings,
Jan
Diane, I so love your yard sale adventures. I love the treasures too. You went all out with a trip to Tuscaloosa and the two pictures are right up my alley. Beautiful. Thrift stores are one of my passions, and yard sales are even better. I can't wait to see what you do with the rabbit. Maybe you should dump all those little balls out of the cage. I bet that will re-capture Connor's attention. smile!
Love and hugs, Jeanne
I think I'm just about ready to find a friend that will go and do all those fun things with me. I haven't been to a yard sale, thrift shop, antique store in more years than I can remember.
You got some great finds!!! The wicker chairs are beautiful!! Tim has a game cube and loves it! I like the rabbit too. Gee, I like everything you got.
take care,
Dawn
I <3 that bunny!
I just bought a can of kiwi (I think that is the name) green spray paint at Walmart, the sign said it was a new color...I love spray paint, can't wait to see what you do with Mr. Bunny!
Fun finds, I love that kind of shopping the best...but there are not alot of those kinds of stores where we live now, and not too many garage sales, either...bummer! But I do try to stop when I see a sign, you just never know what you will find...I did get a nice little lamp the other day for $4, can't beat that!
That bingo thing with the balls...you could use it as a decor item...you could even spray paint the cage part to match whatever you have going on in the room...I think it is pretty cool and definitely whimsical :)
Great finds!
Bella :)
OOOO, Boy...now THAT is what I call a GREAT shopping spree!! Everything you got is wonderful...especially love the chairs!
Keep up the good work..

Diane.....now that's my kind of shopping trip! You got some great stuff, those wicker chairs are fantastic!
Have a great day!

Diane, I'm back to let you know we hired the steps and dry riverbed work out. Also, the lower deck. My dh had a very serious knee injury just before Christmas. We did plant everything and did the mulch, stones, etc. Laying weed preventing material under the mulch was a hard job, believe it or not. Smile. Actually Bill's knee injury made us decide on the terrace steps. That mountain side down to our yard was dangerous.
Love ya, Jeanne
Wonderful finds, Diane! I'd love to come across a couple of wicker rockers.
Conner is a cutie!
Wow...you found some great stuff this weekend. I am on the hunt for some wicker chairs....those are great you found!! I LOVE the little bunny....can't wait to see what color you use.
Diane
Thanks for all the sweet and encouraging words on my new blog. I'm still getting the hang of blogland but boy am I ever having a great time. I'd be more than happy to take some of those treasures you found off your hands lol. Especially that frame! Have a great day!
Wow, you scored a lot of great deals!!! I think that little rabbit is begging to be painted a cream color with a brownish glaze brushed on top, and then wiped off so that it's left only in the divots and crevasses. It will give it dimension and look more textural.
If you don't have any glaze, just dilute a little brown paint with water so it goes on liquidy and wipes off easily.
Or, you could be daring and paint him a bright red or apple green or robin's egg blue. That would be fun!
With a fresh coat of paint, he'll look darling sitting next to that snazzy zebra birdhouse.
I couldn't tell what the little rabbit was made of. But sure would look cute tucked in the garden (if it can withstand the elements, of course), peeking from behind some plants...

Diane, I enjoyed hearing about and seeing your yard sale treasures, especially the wicker rockers and pictures. I love wicker and those will be pretty whatever color you decide to paint them.
Connor is so cute. I know he loves going with you to the sales and finds lots of "treasures" too.
Sincerely,
Janie
You really scored some great things.....the birdhouse, wicker & the prints for over your sofa & breakfast room are great. Isn't thrifting fun! I'm glad you didn't let the color of that sweet bunny scare you away.
I want that pear print!
Hugs, DebraK
I LOVE those wicker rockers and the paintings! You are so lucky to have such great stores and sales at which to shop. Yard sales around here are mostly children's stuff and old clothes ..ick.
Hugs, Pat
I love the little bird house and wicker chairs...hey...I can see those sitting on MY porch! ;-) hahahaha. Love your finds.
*hugs*
Diane, You found some great things! The pictures from the consignment shop were amazing! Flea Markets, Yard sales, and consignments stores have me so spoiled with great prices, it is hard for me to shop retail anymore! LOL!
Hugs, Rhonda :)
Diane, I love the pear picture. The colors in it are fabulous.
I would say you found a lot of wonderful things at the sales.
You always find the best stuff! I need to start checking out some thrift stores, apparently!
