An Announcement!

I'm gonna go out on a limb here and try something new on my blog. On Tuesday, I'll post something that I consider a 'Trash to Treasure' (to me) and include Mr. Linky at the bottom of my post for anyone else who would like to create a similar post. This will be my first time to try something like this, so I'm a little nervous about being the hostess of a blogging event! And I haven't used Mr. Linky before, so I hope he will cooperate!

Blogging events like this have helped me make new blogging friends, and I have been trying to think of something that I could do that would be different from what I've seen on other blogs.

I would love for you to create a post, or link an old one to my blog on Tuesday! It can be anything you've redone or bought that no one else wanted-a garage sale find, a thrift store find, something someone gave to you that they no longer wanted-or a real 'trash' item that you rescued.

I'll try to have the post ready late Monday evening for those that want to post at night. And I'll try to post directions on how to link for those that haven't done this before.

Thanks for stopping in, and hope to see you Tuesday!

Sounds like a great idea...I don't know that I have any real trash to treasure items but I can't wait to see what others have done with theirs!!

Diane,

You chose to do the one thing that I am most ill at ease about. I'm no good at this stuff! I'll visit, though.

I can encourage you with Mr. Linky. It works smoothly. I post my Blue Monday at midnight so that it truly IS Monday and doesn't become a Sunday night thing.

This sounds like fun Diane, good for you for being a risk-taker. I don't know if I have a trash-to-treasure, but I will definitely check in!

Diane,

I am checking in with you after some time, but I don't have a blog running yet. Maybe some day. :-)

I will be sure and read your thread, though. I have lots of trash to treasure finds. I'll be happy to send you a pic if you want to post it. First, I have to figure out how to download a pic of one of my trash to treasures. Can it be something I found for a dollar at a thrift sale??? Does it have to be something we worked on, or can it be something we thrifted?

This sounds like fun. It's particularly fun to see something that was someone else's trash turned to treasure... ooh, I just thought of something good! ;-)

XO,

Sheila

It is a treat for me to sneak back
online for a short while to visit some of my favorite blogs...certainly including your lovely one. It has been so boring being off on medical leave and following my doctor's orders to stay offline and not reading, the sunlight, etc. to avoid eyestrain.(Don't report me for "cheating"!) I will return to catch up on reading your interesting posts that I have missed while off.
Good luck with your "linky" project...sounds like fun. Best regards, Jon at Mississippi Garden on 11-2-08

That sounds like a great idea. I am going to have to think really hard on this one. I don't know if I have anything considered trash to treasure! I do admire all of you creative gals that do fun things with the stuff that you find. I look forward to what other's post. Something might even add to the inspiration :)

take care,
Dawn

Hey girl..you make a great hostess and I can't wait to see what everyone comes up with..I just paint and make things...I don't know that I have what you call a trash to treasure talent! lol Does taking daddy's old garden rake (that he used for years and was about to throw it away)and putting it in an old barrel with some other garden tools so they could rust real pretty and sit on the porch, count as 'trash to treasure"? oh...ok...I guess that wasn't what you had in mind huh? lol lol I think it is a fantastic idea girl! I hope to get some grest ideas from it!

Diane, I love your "Trash to Treasure Tuesday" idea and would like to participate. However, this Tuesday I have an election-related post scheduled, so I will have to wait until the following Tuesday.

I know your idea is going to be fun and a big success, too. I always seem to have "before and after" stories to tell -- some good and some not so good ... lol.

Sincerely,

Janie

This is a really cool idea! My mom is always finding ways to take something that would normally be thrown out and making it into something cool. Good luck hosting! :)

Hi Diane, This sounds like a WONDERFUL weekly event! I have tons of trash to treasure! ...my passion. I already have something scheduled for Tuesday, and if that post doesn't run too long, I'll add a trash to treasure on. If not, I will definitely participate next week! I look forward to seeing everyone's post. Thanks for hosting this! I predict it will be very well received! :) ~Rhonda

I'm a trash-to-treasure lover. Nothing gives character to a person's home better than that - it shows creativity, economy, love for old things, and it shows looking beyond the surface to "what could be"!! I'll try to ge the Linky thing figured out and get my picture ready for tomorrow. PAM

Diane,I would love to join...especially if you introduce me to Mr. Linky! So far Mr. Linky has been a mischevious little fellow who hides from me every time I post! My life is full of trash to treasures...count me in please and do not be nervous...Mr. Linky seems to know if you are nervous...and I can share that from my own experience!

I would love to do this. I don't know how to add myself to the list that the other sites seem to have. Please give me instructions as to how I link up to this.
