Trash to Treasure: Storing my pictures

Welcome to Trash to Treasure on Tuesday!

I hope Mr. Linky works...it wasn't as easy as I thought. LOL

As the old saying goes, "One man's trash in another man's treasure."

In my opinion, a Trash to Treasure is anything that you've bought or had given to you that someone else didn't want and you really like! It could be from a garage sale, thrift store, or a bargain from a retail store. In other words-a thrifty purchase-just use your imagination! If you don't have anything new to share, feel free to link an old post!

I'm going to keep my first post really simple... so here is my Trash to Treasure for this week:
I bought this cute little suit case this past weekend at a yard sale. Since I've started blogging, I have been thinking of different ways to use things. I love the shape of the box and the size, but didn't really care for the car on the front.

So using scrapbook paper, the computer to print a title, and Mod Podge, I redid the top of the suitcase and plan to use it for family photos. The inside is lined with black felt, and large enough for 2 rows of 4 by 6 photos.I am going to cut cardboard for the inside to divide it into two sections. I think it's much cuter than the photo boxes that you buy for photos. Now if I could just run across a few more of these! I need more than one to hold all my pictures!

For those that are new to linking to Mr. Linky, here are the directions:

1. Create your post and publish it. Please include a link back to my blog by typing in my blog address http://diane1876.blogspot.com You can type in the name of my blog, and highlight the words by a right click, then click on the paper clip to type in the blog address.

2. After you have your post ready and published, click on the title of your post. Then right click on the address in the address bar at the top of your browser. It should turn blue, then right click 'copy.'

3. Go to my blog and type your name in on Mr. Linky and right click on the http space and click 'paste'.

4. If you have problems, just email me or leave a comment, and I'll try to help fix it.
Thanks for visiting and for participating!

Diane,

So creative! It looks so nice and to be able to store so many family memories in it, is priceless.
(In case of a disaster all you have to do is grab the handle and run:)!

Good luck,
Beth

I too want to join your 'Trash to Treasure' probably every other Tuesday and alternate it with "Tuesday Post an Oldie".

Hi Diane!

Thanks for adding me to your Mr. Linky this morning! I had to wait to vote on a long line this morning and didn't get online till almost 10 AM.

You turned this suitcase is such nice box to hold photos! It's nice enough to leave displayed on a coffee table as it is quite a conversation piece.

Glad you liked my treasure!
Hugs, Pat

Diane...your suitcase turned out so cute. Great idea. I didn't know you were doing this on Tuesdays. I hope you will be for a bit. I think I will join in next week.

Diane, I think I can join your new idea for a post next week. I am thinking of some things to post in view of your explanation today of what we can post. Remember the candle holder candy dishes I did. that would have been perfect.

I love your Family Photo suitcase conversion. Just an awesome idea.
Count me in next week. Now I am having fun visiting the players today.

Hugs...Jeanne

Hi again,
I tried to enter my post into Mr. Linky, but it didn't show up! Did I do something wrong or is it just my monitor?

Yipes! The day was so busy, I almost forgot you. Then I went on Melissa's site and remembered. What a great turn-out for day one! Good for you!

This suitcase idea is a winner.

Oh, I LOVE this idea. I have an old wicker sewing box that I use to keep old greeting cards. I love old suitcases, they have such personality! I have collected some pieces of dark blue Samsonite. And you are right, they are so much sturdier than the photo boxes!

Diane- love what you did with the suitcase!!! Love the idea of the trash to treasure - and also know how hard Mr. Linky is. I am doing a "30 days of contentment therapy"
session and it took all day to get the link working- in fact the guy who does that had to take my info and do it for me because he couldn't get it working on my end!

I plan on joining your trash to treasure after this month!

blessings to you! :) mary

so fun. I posted about a chair that Victoria (my sister-we blog together) pulled out of a dumpster. She cleaned it up and added her touch for it to fit in her living room.

Love how you fixed up the suitcase to make it just perfect for your photos. Great idea!
